As the years go by and the world gets crazier, I find myself longing more and more for the amazing comfort, peace, and direction that myself and my family receive from listening to twice a year General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
We try to make is a family event where we stay home, bake and eat yummy things, get comfy and listen together to the words of our prophet, apostles, and other leaders. We were super blessed to have Pamela come and visit us for the weekend, and she and I spent Saturday morning making amazing pumpkin cinnamon rolls. We snacked on them all weekend – yum!

Elder Brown had a special activity for the first session of conference, where he and his service mission zone got together to have brunch and watch as a group. He loved it!

After two fabulous sessions, that evening, Kevin and I took Pamela to the Riverwalk for some yummy Mexican food. The weather was gorgeous and we sat on a balcony right by the river. After dinner, we had to take her to Honchos House of Churros to try them out. We all got the filled churros with ice-cream, and they were just as wonderful as I remembered them being.

Sunday was another fabulous day of General Conference, with two sessions. We were all spread out over the living room to watch, take notes, and learn. And eat more yummy food đŸ˜‰.

In between sessions, Pamela and I decided to take a walk, and since Arthur was getting squirrely, we took him with us. he was “protecting us from bad guys,” but we had to strategically have him in front or behind us depending on the wind, since he kept knocking leaves off the trees. Good times.

It was such an amazing weekend together as a family (and having Pamela with us was the icing on the cake). I felt so blessed and so spiritually filled. Here are a few of my favorite quotes from some of the talks – it barely scratches the surface, but will give you an idea of all the wonderful teachings of Jesus Christ we were taught over the two days.

PS. Because Pamela didn’t fly out until mid-morning on Monday, she came over to my school and got to see my classroom before she left. I’m bummed I forgot to take a picture, but it sure was fun to show her a place where I spend so much of my time.
