October started out with quite a few activities, but the best one was definitely Arthur’s choir concert. It was their first concert of the year, and his choir sang two wonderful songs.

It is amazing to not only see how the choir program has grown in the past three years, but how much Arthur has grown. He is now an 8th grader, and he may not be the tallest, but he is getting there. We sure so love his amazing conductor, Ms. Calvo – she is not only musically talented, but is so great with those kids, especially those wiley boys.

Derek (Elder Brown) didn’t attend the concert with us, because he was at a special Family Home Evening for his mission zone. They had a spiritual thought, played games, and loved getting to spend time together as Service Missionaries.

Tuesday was our special quarterly “Lion Leader” Assembly, where each teacher chose two students from their classes to recognize how they help our school by demonstrating their leadership, kindness and so many other things. Ellie and Mehtab were my two students, and they were awesome.

Speaking of school, I am always trying new and different ways for the students to be actively learning, and so the other day, I gave each student a word or a definition for our current science unit. They had to find the matching word or definition, and then with their partner, they had to find the picture that represented the word. And lastly, they then had to to teach the class about their word. They LOVED it, which I was very grateful for, since sometimes the ideas do not pan out like I hope for đŸ˜‰.

Another fun thing, was that all the teachers were given a gift card and some other fun treats from a person in the community. I turned my cute wood cutout into a magnet for my board.

And speaking of me, my hair is growing – slowly, but surely – and I even managed to get in some tiny pigtails. They were very reminiscent of what I would do to Lily’s hair when she was one – ha ha! I also have discovered that my eyelashes have grown back!!! What a miracle, and after 3 months of wearing fake eyelashes, I finally have my own again.

One fun thing was sneaking out with Kevin to go to Trader Joe’s to buy some of their amazing fall treats. When we walked in, Kevin saw me eying the gorgeous flowers, and so he had me pick some to bring home. They are so gorgeous!!

And so October is here – life is crazy, life is good, and it just keeps moving along.
