I know that the older you get, the faster time flies, but wow, this summer really went by way too fast. Before we knew it, it was the first day of school, and our baby boy, Arthur, was a growing 13 year old starting 8th grade! And when I say growing, I am not kidding. I think he is taller every day when he wakes up.

I love that he goes to school every morning with the Grobergs. He started sixth grade with Tayvia, last year it was both Tayvia and Arietta, and now that Tayvia is in high school, it was Arthur with Arietta. They look like they could be brother and sister. So fun!

the first day of school meant three classes of new students for me as well. There is also so much anxiety before the first day of school – waiting to see what your class will be like, and hoping that you really do have everything set and ready to go.

Luckily, it all came together well, and although the students will have to get used to rotating, they are already great. I got a picture of my homeroom, and they are already awesome.

I did manage to get a picture of each of the three classes eventually. It was just so busy, that it was hard to squeeze it in. They are such sweet kids, and although they need to learn to be 4th graders, I think they are up for the challenge.

I also had a few birthdays straight off the bat, and so we got to celebrate them the first week of school.

I also put them to work straight away, working in partnerships to teach the class about the different historical eras of Texas history. Good times. Nothing like making them present the first week of school đŸ˜‰.

So far, things are going well, even if both Arthur and I are struggling to get into the groove and routine of it all, and having enough energy to get through the days. But it’s all good.
