April is here, and spring is in full swing in my yard. I keep thinking of the song from the old musical that says, “Spring is busting out all over!”

That is what it looks like, and I can’t help but stop and take pictures of all the beauty in my yard right now. My rose bushes seem to be exploding with blooms.

And not only are the flowers beautiful, but they smell amazing!! I picked all of my rose bushes based on their smell, as well as their colors and hardiness. And of course, my Jasmine and y honeysuckle smell beyond amazing.

When I am not getting distracted by my garden, I am busy teaching my fourth graders. We had so many March birthdays, and then we carried that trend into the beginning of April as well.

We also had a special little teacher competition for Easter, where if you found a plastic egg, you won a prize. I still can’t believe I found one. It was a miracle!

Most of the time we aren’t playing fun games or celebrating birthdays, but I am teaching my 65 4th graders science and social studies. I really love it. The other day I had them working in small groups, and they were doing such an awesome job, I had to document it 😉.

On Thursday, it was only Arthur and I for dinner, and since there wasn’t school on Friday because of the holiday of Good Friday, he and I got a special dinner of Texas Roadhouse to go, and then watched a movie together. It was awesome.

On our Friday off of school, it was packed with a bunch of appointments, because that is what teachers do with their random weekdays off. Not only did I go and get my yearly mammogram (where I may have made my technician cry by telling her my cancer story – she hugged me and prayed for me right there ❤️😭), but I also got to attend the San Antonio Temple with my sister, Wendy. After all of that, Arthur and I went to his eye appointment. His eyes have been getting a bit worse, and so he has started wearing his glasses all of the time, and not just at school. We finished off the day with some shopping and then crashed for the rest of the day.

While Derek and Arthur were having family movie night with me, we had a special delivery. Charu and her amazing nonprofit, Hope for Triumph, brought me all of the food they had gathered from a recent food drive. It was amazing and overwhelming. They were so amazing, especially the kids who actually run it all. (And since it was way more than we could ever use, I asked her if I could pass some along to others who might need it more. Which Derek and Arthur helped me do on Saturday. So amazing.)

Speaking of Saturday, Derek was off at a special Service Missionary activity, and so Arthur and I joined our ward at the 2nd annual Temple View 5K.

This year I was not physically able to do the full 5K, but Arthur and I did go two miles. On our way back to the church building, my friend Laura was stopped and pointed out a giant possum up on the fence!! It was crazy, and really seemed like he was going to jump on one of us at any moment. Oh, I also had to stop and get pictures of the flowers growing out of the sidewalk.

If you haven’t noticed yet that Kevin was absent from all of these activities, it was because he was out on the golf course volunteering at the Valero Texas Open PGA golf tournament. It was his fifth year in a row, and is one of his very favorite things. On the bad list, however, was when on Saturday it began to rain, and rain, and rain. They sat in a tent or the hotel for about five hours, until they finally called it quits and let everyone go home. Craziness. But hey, on Thursday, his friend sent him a picture he took of Kevin on the golf footage on TV. Pretty awesome.
