This month has seemed to fly by, while also felt like it moved slowly, like walking through mud. Isn’t it strange how both things can be true at the same time? I think that is one of the paradoxes of this life. The best part of the past few weeks was that the cold we had in January went away, and I can sit in the backyard and enjoy all the loveliness. And Kevin loves more time with his golf simulator outside 😉.

We are also seeing the first glimpses of spring. I found the first tiny flower on my Redbud tree, and my Texas Mountain Laurels are blooming! It really does fill me with joy.

And of course, I had to make sure that Arthur got to smell the flowers, because the Mountain Laurel flowers smell like grape candy. It is amazing!

School has been busy, but good. It seems like there are always things getting in the way of me actually getting to teach my students – like when I have to be out all day because of a training. Luckily this training was with a great group of ladies from my school. We always have a fantastic time together, especially during our lunch break when we go out together.

There are always the normal things, like celebrating birthdays and doing work. I have been teaching a science unit about weathering, erosion and deposition, and it has been really fun.

And last Friday, it was “Rodeo Day,” since the San Antonio Rodeo has been going on all month. It was so fun to show off my boots and hat, and the kids and teachers especially loved the belt buckle that I won from winning the Round Robin in 4H at the Nevada Junior Livestock Show when I was eleven. And I had to get a picture with the adorable Lily, in my class, who also dressed up.

Every once in a while there are really extra special moments, like when my student, Ollie, brought his violin and played a song for the class. It was fabulous. And then some of the kids in my homeroom wanted to demonstrate how they had mastered something on the xylophones and glockenspiels. Very fun!

And on Friday, we had a field trip to Reagan High School for the fourth grade students in our cluster to watch the RHS symphony perform. They were so excited!

The concert was spectacular – wow, those kids are talented!! It was an adventure keeping all of the students behaving well, as I am pretty sure that most of them had never been to a concert, and especially this type of concert. Good times 😜. Overall, it was such a fantastic experience for the kids, and a great way to finish off February for our students.

Lily also got to have some fun recently, as she was able to attend a baby shower for my niece, McKayla. While she was there, she got to hold her cousin Melanie’s new baby girl and see a bunch of her cousins and aunts, as well her grandma. Very fun!

And on a totally random note, I always find it fun when I comment on something on instagram and have the person post it to their stories or feed. Pretty fun.
