In early 2005, I started my blog. Derek was just a tiny baby, Lily was 2 years old, Kevin was in the Army, and I was living far away from home and family (with my parents living in Scotland for 1 1/2 years), and so a blog sounded like a great way to keep in touch with friends and family, and be a journal of my family. And it was great, for all those years – https://lisabrown.typepad.com/ – but earlier this month, I had the surprising and unfortunate news that they were shutting down on September 30th.

Suddenly, twenty years of memories were just going to disappear, with almost no warning. I am trying to get my old posts saved and imported to this new space, but things are not going as easily as I was made to believe. As I try to figure things out, I decided that I don’t want to get too behind, so even though all the past is still missing from my new site, I will start writing again about the present.
