I have Stage Four Lung Cancer 😳. As a healthy living nonsmoker, those are words were not even on my radar, let alone something I can even fathom getting as a diagnosis.

We are so relieved to have more answers, and after meeting with the Oncologist this week, here are the things that we know:

*The tumor they removed from my brain was in fact lung cancer that had spread there.

*They have to do another MRI because the bone scan found a few other spots they need to check out that could be three additional tumors (spine, breastbone and hip)

*We will begin treatment soon (radiation for the 2 remaining brain tumors and chemo and immunotherapy to take care of the 1 lung tumor). We will find out more about the other tumors soon.

*This is not going to be a quick fix. It will be multiple rounds of chemo, taking months, but my doctor is optimistic I will finish treatment before Christmas

*I will miss teaching the first half of the school year 😭

*I have a phenomenal team of doctors working with us (one of the best oncologists in the country 😳 – amazing!!! He and his team are on the cutting edge of treatments)

*One of the biggest things on our to do list is taken care of – brain surgery to remove the large tumor – so we are winning 😉.

*Even though I am still very weak and have a constant headache, I am healing well from the surgery and have regained all my ability to communicate 🥹❤️.

*I have the most amazing and supportive husband. I have all my kids at home. And we are surrounded by an overwhelming amount of love and prayers and support – an angel army.

There are many uncertainties and unknowns. It will be a long road that we never anticipated having to walk, but we are not alone. God has been in the details, and the miracles that happen every day show us that He is walking the road with us.

PS. The white ribbon is for lung cancer. Kevin got these for us to wear 🥹.
