We started out our 3rd week of summer with a whole bunch of guests for Sunday dinner. There is a whole giant group of guys who are here in San Antonio doing summer sales, and we may have dubbed them the “bug boys,” because they are all selling pest control.  I had felt strongly that I wanted to invite them to dinner, but I knew I would need to prepare for it – lots of food and a trip to Costco – ha ha!  We had so much fun with them, and they definitely ate all the food 😉.  If I had the grocery budget, I would have them over every week.

Earlier in the day, Arthur and I looked out the window and saw a hummingbird!!  So cool!!

After all the bug boys left, Arthur was in charge of our family activity, and he decided to do a quick murder mystery.  Three suspects, three weapons, and three possible locations.  It was pretty fun and creative.  Good times.

On Monday, we were so excited to receive a text from our friends, the Groberg family, saying that a free ice cream truck was heading our way.  It was so awesome, and they even had old school push-pops, which I totally had to eat.

That night, Arthur had an away swim meet, and wow, it was hot!  Luckily, Kevin and I had our neck fans – thank goodness.  Arthur did a great job, and he even participated in a 100m IM, which meant he was going to have to swim one lap of each different stroke.  So exhausting, but he did great.

Arthur’s favorite part of the meet was that his Young Men’s leader, John Holmes, and his family came to support him.  Arthur’s face was just glowing when he saw him there.  So awesome!

The rest of the week was full of swim practices for Arthur and physical therapy appoints for me (It’s a long story, but my chronic back pain has been extra bad lately.).  Derek has been doing his service assignments, and he is loving it – especially his time at the Animal Care Facility where he walgs dogs for hours. It’s his favorite.

Actually, I think his other very favorite thing is going out with the teaching missionaries that serve in our ward.  He goes out teaching with them around three times a week, and he loves teaching people the gospel of Jesus Christ.

At one point during the week, I just had to get out in nature and go walking, and so I stopped at the park on my way home my PT, and it was perfect.  I had the whole park to myself and it was perfect.  As I am walking, I tend to get distracted by the wildflowers along the path.

There was also this cute squirrel that was just sitting on the fence post watching me.  I also had to snap a picture of this cool, gnarled old tree.

Lastly, I have been working on a project for our ward bulletin board at the church.  It has important details for upcoming events, times for services and youth activities, a map of the building (that I created – that was an adventure), and pictures of the leadership in the ward so that people can recognize us. I really love how it turned out.

And so, it wasn’t a super exciting week of summer, but it was a good one.
