Oh Arthur, how on earth are you twelve years old and finishing sixth grade? I sometimes think that everything hits harder when it is your youngest, and watching our little guy grow up has been amazing. He has had so many great things this last little bit of school, beginning with his Bush Middle School Choir Pop Show.

His chor sang two songs – the first was “Country Roads” by John Denver, and it was nice, but they should have had the kids miked, because it was so hard to hear them over the background track. (Arthur was at the end of the row, and was one of the few kids who wore a cowboy hat, like they were supposed to.)

Their second song, “I’m Still Standing,” was his favorite, not just because it was fun and upbeat, but because I think Arthur loved the choreography. They were much easier to hear on this song, thank goodness.

I think his favorite part of the song was when they played their fake electric guitars and then threw them into the audience. Good times!

This last week, there was a special awards ceremony at the middle school, and although I couldn’t attend since it was in the middle of the school day, both Kevin and Derek were able to go. They were both so proud of Arthur, and Kevin told me that he was one of only a couple kids who was honored for three things. Arthur was honored for his UIL performances (two firsts and one second), his choir performance (Superior One rating at the Solo and Ensemble competition), and for being on the All A’s Honor Roll. He really knocked it out of the park this year, and we are so proud of him!

Thursday was his last day of sixth grade, and I had to get a picture of him before I left for work, even if it meant that it was in darkness because I leave before the sun comes up – ha ha! He has grown so much!!

I had to get a side by side with the first day versus the last day, and of course, Arthur had to give me a silly pose. Oh well. And wow, although having the dorr different makes it harder to compare how much he has grown, it makes me appreciate how gorgeous my new door is 😍.

I also asked my friend Tanisha (and carpool buddy) to snap a picture of Arthur with Tayvia, so we could compare the first day versus the last day of these two friends. They both have grown up so much! What a great school year, and it crazy to think that next year Arthur will be in 7th grade and she will be in 8th. Good times!
