It is amazing to think that Kevin and I have been married for 24 years, over half of our lives. Kevin is the love of my life and my very best friend. We have had 24 amazing years, and I look forward to an eternity more ❤️.  And what an amazing life it has been!!

32 years of friendship

12 years of army life

Countless adventures.

I truly couldn’t imagine having anyone else by my side, and I am so blessed that the Lord put us in each other’s lives.

I wanted to do something fun to celebrate, especially because I somehow had a three day weekend off of school because of Fiesta.  I researched a lot of different options, but sadly, they weren’t quite in the budget.  Then I thought about how Kevin still hadn’t played golf in Oklahoma, and so we reached out to his brother Brian, who graciously said we could use their family cabin in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.  And so as soon as school was out on Thursday, I rushed home and Kevin and I drove to the cabin (about a 7 1/2 hour drive).

It was gorgeous, cozy, and nestled into the forest.  Before this trip, I didn’t know that this part of Oklahoma existed – rolling hills and lush forests.  It is tucked in the South Eastern corner, just across the Texas and Arkansas borders.  I woke up the next morning and went out on the back porch and just soaked in the beauty of nature and the bird songs.  It was just what my weary heart needed.

After a leisurely morning, Kevin and I went out for brunch at a diner in town, and it was delicious – especially the cinnamon roll pancake that was as big as the plate.

Then it was time for golf!  Only 10 minutes down the road was Cedar Creek Golf Course, and they even let us get out on the course early.  It was lush and green and beautiful.  And truthfully, I always love going golfing with Kevin.

At one point, I had to get a picture of the two of our balls, because my drive was “farther” than Kevin’s drive.  Granted, I got to tee off about 100 yards closer, and his ball had hit a tree, but whatever, my drive was totally longer than his 😉.

As always happens, I got a tad distracted by the wildflowers and scenery, but it’s all good.  Kevin tolerates it – ha ha!

Not too long into our playing, it began to rain.  And it rained and rained and rained.  Sometimes a little bit, and sometimes a pretty heavy drizzle.  Luckily it wan’t cold out, so it was tolerable, but there was more than one shot that got messed up because the sleeve of my raincoat got caught under my hand while I was swinging.  Oh well.

I definitely didn’t play my best round, but that probably had more to do with me not touching a golf club since we played in Hawaii than anything else.  We still had a wonderful time though.  (If you look closely at the picture of the almost island green, you can see Kevin as a tiny navy blue and white dot in the corner.)

When we got back, we soaked in the hot tub, got some dinner to go, and then spent the evening binge watching the TV show, “Only Murders in the Building.”  It was such a great day.

On Saturday, we decided to change our paddleboarding plans, since the water was freezing and the temperature was only about 65 degrees, and instead just took it easy.  I took a walk through the neighborhood (all vacation cabins), which was quite the effort, since it is built on very steep hills.  Definitely made for a good workout.  Then I came back and Kevin and I soaked in the hot tub again – because we could 😉.  Later on, he watched sports and napped, and I hung out on the porch and soaked in all the nature while I tried to get caught up on my blog.  It was seriously perfect.

Later on, we did venture out for lunch and did a little souvenir shopping, and then bing watched our show some more.  That evening, we went to a fun local steakhouse for our anniversary dinner.  We had fantastic steaks, and Kevin even got a fruity tropical drink to share (I think all those virgin Lava Flows in Hawaii sparked something in him).  It was such a wonderful day, and we took dessert for the road so we could enjoy it as we finished watching our show.  Seriously, it was just so wonderful to be together without any pressures of anything.

On Sunday morning, our actual anniversary, we left about 7am, and I had strategically found a chapel along our way where we could attend sacrament meeting.  It was a nice little break in the drive, and then we made it home to our boys in the early afternoon.  I am so grateful for the time with my Kevin and for thelife we have made together.
