Time keeps flying, and although in my mind I still feel like I am twenty-five, my body consistently reminds me that I am most definitely not – ha ha!  On my birthday, I turned forty-seven (which, let’s face it, sounds way older than 46), and it was a good day.

The past few years, Kevin has begun decorating our bedroom door with streamers, just like I do with the kids, and it is super sweet.  Unfortunately, I think we have lost our happy birthday sign which I usually put up along with it, but of well.  Still so fun.

My class was super excited to celebrate me, and right before the bell for the school day to start rang, they all burst into song, singing happy birthday to me.  We also had our official celebration at the end of the day, where I wore the glasses and they sang to me again before we had treats.  A few of them even had little gifts for me, including some sweet little homemade cards.

After school, I came home to a box of Crumbl cookies waiting for me – a special surprise for my birthday from my sister, Holly, that she had delivered.  They little cheesecake was especially good.

For dinner, Kevin picked up take-out from a local Italian pizzeria, and I had fetucinni Alfredo, and the boys had pizza.  It was perfect, especially because I didn’t have to cook.  Then it was time for presents.  I was not expecting much, because I had told Kevin that what I really wanted were some new plants to put in the yard, but they spoiled me anyway.  Lily even sent me a book by one of my favorite authors.

One of the best parts of the day was getting to Facetime with Lily.  She doesn’t reach out very often, so it was definitely a treat.

One of the best gifts was from Arthur, and totally made me laugh.  He made me little coupons for things like, “Run Errands with Son” or “Lunch with Son.”  If they had a 1 on them, they were for multi-use, and if they had a 0, they could only be used once.  He then proceeded to tell me that they could work for either of my sons, even though Derek knew nothing about them.  Ha ha ha!!

My cake was a delicious red velvet bundt cake that Kevin made for me.  It was so yummy, and I am so grateful that he makes my cake for me.  Definitely one of the best presents.  All in all, it was a lovely day, and even though I am so much closer to turning 50, I think I am okay with it . . . I think.
