February has come to an end, and even though it was busy, it was good.  One of the highlights recently was when we got to play Mario Party as a family.  I usually get last place, but with some lucky bonus stars, I snuck ahead of all the boys and won!  It happens so rarely that I had to take a picture.  Good times.

Lily has been doing pretty well, but last week she was feeling very overwhelmed, and so she called her cousin, Austin, and he came over and gave her a blessing.  I love that she has family nearby that she can call on for help if she needs it.  Such a blessing!

On Friday, Derek took Arthur to the San Antonio Temple to do baptisms.  I love seeing these brothers continue to make memories together, especially doing wonderful things attending the temple together.

Right after I took this picture of the two of them together, I saw this fun quote on Instagram, “Some moms have handsome sons.  It’s me.  I’m some moms.”  Ha ha!  I love it!  And it is true.

There have been some very fun things at school lately too.  One of my students was chosen as the Super Star Student of the month.  This sweet boy has been working so hard, and has grown so much.  I am so proud of him!

We also had some birthdays in February, and they always love getting to sit in my chair and wear the silly glasses while we sing to them.

But the biggest thing at school was our field trip to Mill Springs Cabin at Bradley Middle School.  On the way there, my class even had the whole bus to ourselves.

Mill Springs Cabin is this awesome place that is a recreation of a small Texas community during the 1800’s, with a general store, schoolhouse, and so much more.  Middle school students have a class where they are in charge of leading the tours in the different places, and it is pretty amazing how they run the whole thing with just a teacher advisor.

My students just loved the experience, especially when they got to dress up or act out different elements of life during that time.

The schoolhouse was especially interesting to them, as they learned what school was like for early settlers in Texas.  They thought that the dunce cap was pretty funny, but only because they weren’t actually having to wear it as punishment ;).

One of the rotations was a small museum, and I think it was a favorite stop because of all the cool things inside, from animals, to stones, to weapons.

And of course, there was the cabin the site was named for, which was an original cabin that they moved to the school when they decided to create the experience.  It was the perfect thing to go along with Texas history.

When all the rotations were done, the kids had lunch on picnic tables, except for the group that was voted on as the best behaved.  They got to have their lunch out on picnic blankets :).  Very fun!

It was such a perfect field trip (and not just because there was a special place for teachers to relax in, complete with snacks and comfy chairs), and the kids learned a ton.  It was the perfect way to finish off February.
