This past week of school before Thanksgiving break was packed with all the things, and not just because I was trying to get everything ready to the point where I can spend Thanksgiving break without doing a single work related thing.  One day, in the middle of a read aloud I was doing with the students, both the principal, Mr. Massey, and the Assistant Principal, Ms. Thompson, came in looking all serious and scary.  Then out of nowhere, they pulled bubble guns out from behind their backs and gave the kids a bubble party because 4th grade had the highest attendance in the school in November.  So much fun!

Another fun thing that we did this week, was to make birthday cards for our targeted support teacher, Mrs. Gutierrez.  Then we snuck down the hall and surprised her with singing to her.  It blew her away and made her day.  And my students thought it was the best thing ever ;).

For science all week, the students had to create “turkey transporters” to get their turkey down a string the fastest.  Each group was given the same box of supplies, and then they had to use their imagination.  It was fun watching them plan and try to create what was in their heads.

Then on Friday, we tested out all the transporters, timed them with a stop watch, and saw which designs were the winners.  They had a blast!

Later on, after doing the last of our work for the day, my class got to have a special party they had earned.  They got to bring pillows, blankets, stuffed animals and build forts.  Everyone brought in treats, and then we got settled and watched “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.”  They had worked so hard to earn that party, and they had a blast!

For Links that day, the teachers all took turns doing the “Turkey Bowl,” where we bowled to see the winner of the grade level.  and I won!!  My class was the cutest, chanting my name and screaming when I won, as if each of them were the winner too.  I sure do love my class.

For the last hour of the day, we did special rotations to the different classrooms.  In my room, I had Legos and blocks set up all over for the kids to play with.  They loved it!  I even pulled out my Lego Christmas tree and let some of the students work on putting it together.  While they played with blocks, I was strategically decorating my room for Christmas, so that it would be done when I came back from break.  Good times!  It was the perfect way to finish off the week and get ready for vacation.
