Wow, Lily and Derek are all settled in Rexburg, and I am beyond excited for them – especially because they will have each other this semester.

Kevin and the kids made it to Utah first, and had a great day spending time with our dear friends, the Jones.  Then they headed to Twin Falls to visit their grandparents for a couple days.  Kevin got in some golf with his dad – and his brother, Scott, who just happened to be in town.  The best part, however, was when Kevin, Lily, and Derek got to go to the temple with Grandpa Dennis, Grandma Valerie and Uncle Scott.  So awesome.

Friday morning was move in day, and so they woke up early and drove to Rexburg.  First thing, they got Derek all settled in to his apartment.  So much unpacking and getting settled.  I was so grateful for the pictures they sent me, because it was KILLING me to not be there with him as he got settled into his first apartment.  I wanted to walk around and see it, meet his roommates and help him get settled.

Derek had to head off to Freshman Orientation, and so Kevin took Lily to her apartment to get settled.  Luckily for her, it was mostly just moving things from her closet to where they go in her apartment, because she hadn’t had to move out, only consolidate her belongings when she came home for the six week summer break.

After they got all settled, Kevin took the kids to get a few things on campus, like their parking permit, etc.  And to get lunch, of course.

After all of that, they headed to the grocery store to get them all stocked up on food.  While they were there, Lily totally ran into her old mission companion, which was so awesome!!

Kevin got them all settled in, and then spent the night at my sister, Cheryl’s house for the night.  The next morning, while Derek was doing more orientation stuff, Kevin was up before the sun and driving to Montana.  He has a goal to play golf in all fifty states, and decided that since Montana is so close to Rexburg, it was the perfect opportunity to sneak over there and get in a round of golf.  The scenery was spectacular, and he had a wonderful time.

He got back to Rexburg in time to take the kids to a late lunch/early dinner, and to get in some last facetime with them before he had them drop him off at the Idaho Falls Airport.  I am so glad that Kevin was able to be there for them, even if I wished it was me ;).

That night, Derek and Lily had a blast going to I-Night, a huge party/activity to kick off the new semester.  They had so much fun there together, and they even found a room where Derek could play Mario Kart.  Good times!

I am so grateful that they have each other!!  What a huge blessing, especially for Derek to have his experienced sister there to help him out.  They may be over 1200 miles away from me, but they are only a few blocks from each other.

And for their very first Sunday, Lily made them fried chicken for dinner.  So awesome!  I sure do love and miss these amazing kids of mine.
