We extended our trip to Idaho just long enough that we could spend Father’s Day with Kevin’s dad. It was our second Father’s Day in a row there, and it was wonderful. I made French Toast for Kevin’s special breakfast, and then we went to my mom’s house for gospel study and to say goodbye. I wish I had remembered to snap a picture with her, but I forgot. We also took the opportunity to do any small last minute things for her, like change lightbulbs and bring things up from the basement.
Then we went back to Kevin’s parents in time to have some lunch and go to church. I had to get a picture of Kevin with the kids, and it just shows how much Derek has really grown the past few months.

Kevin loved getting to spend Father’s Day with his dad, doing one of their favorite things – watching golf. And it was the US Open, which made it even more fun. (FYI – I won the fantasy golf league competition this time! So cool, even though Kevin and Dennis may never forgive me – ha ha!)

For Kevin’s gift, we got him this super cool golf corn hole game. we can’t wait to try it out when we get home. And Lily gave him a Sabac deck she hound at the Star Wars store at Disney – super cool.

We had a lovely dinner, and then that evening, the boys and I took a walk around the temple – even though it was crazy hot outside. Arthur was super wired and had a toy lightsaber with him, and refused to wear his shoes, which he just carried around. Needless to say, we didn’t go on the actual temple grounds in that state, but just stayed on the sidewalk along the street. We had a great time, even if we melted.

On Monday morning, we were up by 4am and were on the road as soon as we finished loading up. And thus began our two day, 35 hour adventure across the country to get home to Pennsylvania. We drove all through the night, as we wanted/needed to get back to town as soon as we could. The kids were troopers and slept in the car, and Kevin and I would take turns resting and driving for chunks of time. And there is something really cool and crazy about watching the sun rise and set on you, as you drive straight East.

It was long, it was hard, but we were so happy to get home on Tuesday evening. We got home early enough to get everything unpacked and mostly put away before bedtime. It was a wonderful trip, but it is always fantastic to be home again.
