It has been a crazy month of April, and in the midst of the chaos created by Kevin and my surgeries, we have managed to have some fun. Thank goodness our kids are resilient and happy :).
Other than being upset that mom couldn't carry him for a while, Arthur was his normal, happy self. He especially loved the box I brought home from Costco, and has been playing in it ever since.
And if it is possible, Arthur is reading more than ever. He will sit through book after book, and listen to the whole thing without being restless. It is the sweetest thing :).
Other than reading to Arthur, we are still reading with Lily and Derek. Lily and I even started reading her very first Zane Grey book, "Forlorn River." Zane Grey books are a tradition in my family, as my mother's grandfather used to read them to her when she was young, and I think most of my siblings have a few in their home and love them. They are wonderful old Westerns that are full of romance and adventure. And Lily loves that the copy we are reading was published in 1927, and so the book is almost 100 years old, which means she treats it very carefully :).
The weather has been been beautiful, and so the kids have been spending lots of time in the back yard. Lily will take Arthur out to play, and he loves it so much!
Arthur is still not sleeping well, but luckily, his surgery is coming up soon, which will hopefully help things quite a bit. Right now, he wakes up so much at night, he is exhausted during the day.
Another random thing happened the other day. I received a letter with tickets to the Broadway sho we had seen back in February. I was very confused, that is, until I looked at the post mark. It had been mailed almost 6 months ago! It was the original set of tickets, that had obviously gone missing, and so I had requested more in January.
Another fun adventure, was when Lily helped me plant flowers. The weather was so beautiful, and I wanted to plant flowers so badly, but I still can't kneel. That makes most yard work almost impossible. Luckily, Lily was an amazing helper, and so I could sit next to the flower beds and have her hand me things. The flowers we planted were the perfect addition to the hyacinths and tulips that were popping up :).
We also had a very fun family home evening. After a lesson on prayer, we played Star Wars Angry Birds Jenga – it was very fun.
Then we finished things off with yummy cupcakes. Arthur especially loved his, and he made enough of a mess of himself, that he guaranteed that he would get a bath afterward :).
And so yes, things have been crazy, but they have also been good.
