I am in love with living in Colorado. And really, I am a Western girl at heart – born in Arizona, grew up in
Nevada, went to high school in Idaho, and college in Utah. It reminds me, in many ways, of where I grew up in Northern Nevada. It also has things that I love about Idaho and Utah as well. It is the perfect mix for me.
And I can't help but be in awe of the scenery – the mountains and sky are amazing. No matter how I try, I can never quite capture the majesty and beauty of my surroundings.
And so it breaks my heart to see the destruction of the Black Forest fire from this summer. One minute I was driving down the road looking at the fantastic scenery, and the next minute I was surrounded by the scarred forest.
It is truly saddening, especially when you see the driveways with no home. And all those trees – trees that have been there for ages, now burnt and black. With the green grass having grown back, it is a stark contrast to the devastated trees. My poor Colorado.
But even with the burnt and broken forest, Colorado is still so beautiful and amazing. I am so grateful to live in such a wild and wonderful place. I hope to call it home for many, many years to come.
