To say that the weather where we live in Colorado is bipolar, is really putting it lightly. It changes in a heartbeat, and you never really know what you are going to get. It has something to do with the high elevation and the way the storm systems hit the mountains. Needless to say, the weather can be strange, like the other day when Kevin golfed in sunshine, wind, hail and snow – all in one round of golf.
We had beautiful 60 degree weather, that was promptly followed by a blizzard and a snow day. And then as I looked at the weekly forecast, this is what I saw. Yes, 27 degrees one day, followed by the 70's a few days later.
And we did get that 70 degree weather, but it did eventually go back to snow – just for one day.
We have also been playing with a few new things in our home lately. Arthur has had some fun new toys, one of which is his Bumbo chair. These did not exhist when Lily and Derek were babies, and too bad, because they would have loved them. Arthur loves it too, even if his thighs are a little too fat and he has to be wedged in.
I also got some fun new things. Both of which were inspired by my friend Angela, who showed me hers when they were visiting. And both were needed because of Arthur. I really needed a cute new purse that would also work as a diaper bag. When I saw Angela's purse, I knew it was perfect, and so I ordered one for me.
Angela also let me me try out her Ergo, and so immediately had to order one of those as well. It is awesome.
Arthur also got some more new things in his monthly Citrus Lane package (Thank you again Kate and Randy!) His favorite thing was the teether toy – it is the perfect size for him to hold, and he loves it.
The other new thing I got recently was very large. So big, in fact, that it came in 11 boxes, and the UPS man had to back up to our driveway to unload them. Of course, the day it was delivered, was also the day it snowed a ton. (The day before I had worn capris and flipflops.)
And inside all those boxes were the pieces to my brand new, beautiful, Potterybarn desk :). I had been drooling over this desk for years, and so when Kevin gave me permission to get myself a new desk to put in the basement, I was so excited. You see, my old desk was a hand-me-down table Kevin and I got when we were first married, along with some plastic drawers. It was impooible to keep organized.
But my new desk is amazing!!! And so pretty!! And the end part works as a sewing table, which Kevin was able to put to use right away :).
Speaking of projects, I used some of my landscapes recently to make canvas pictures. It was so easy – all I had to do was modgepodge them onto a canvas I bought at Hobby Lobby. I love how they turned out :).
Lily and Derek also had projects recently. They had to make a paper quilt block for a cultural quilt, and on it they got to put things that are traditions in our family. I love the things that they chose for it. It makes me happy to see the things they think are most important.
The quilt was displayed at Family Fun Night at the school. We love going there for it, as they have a delicious dinner, the "basket bonanza" raffle, and displays set up throughout the classrooms. Lily got to show us the Andes mountains she had made, and Derek even found the school mascot, Molly the bulldog as we wandered around.
It has been a fun and busy few weeks, and we have been so happy to get to spend it together.
