On our way to the bus stop the other day, I was overwhelmed with the scent of honeysuckle.  AS we got closer to the corner, the scent got stronger, until I realized that it was not coming from someone's yard, it was growing wild at the end of our street.   (I, of course, had to teach Lily how to suck the nector out of the flower – he he!)

Since then I have noticed wild honeysuckle bushes all over town.  The smell is amazing – intoxicating even.  It got me thinking about smells, and my other favorites scents.  I have quite a few . . .

  • Rain
  • Humidity – You may think I am weird, but I love the smell of humidity.
  • Freshly Baked Bread
  • Chocolate
  • Fresh Cut Grass
  • Kevin's Cologne
  • The Ocean
  • Clean Mountain Air
  • Hyacinths
  • Iris
  • Wild Roses
  • Sagebrush – especially right after it rains (Oh, how I miss sagebrush – I did grow up in a state where it is the state flower.)
  • Lilacs – probably my favorite scent ever

I am sure I missed one or two, but these are the ones that came to mind.  Isn't it amazing how a smell can transport you to another place?  What are your favorite scents?

So funny that I had a similar moment. I was riding my girls on the four wheeler at my parents and I smelt something wonderful. I realized it was the wild honeysuckle, or what we call yellow jasmine, it’s sc state flower. I remember sucking the juice as a girl. So great to read this post.

And where do you think you learned to suck the honeysuckle?
I love the smell when I nuzzle the neck of a tiny new baby.
Old Spice–when your dad and I were dating at BYU, sometimes we would meet on campus and hold hands. I can remember going back to class and smelling the Old Spice on my hands–I loved it.
