This has been a great week – a little more low key than the past few weeks, with time to have fun, as well as get things done, like the housework I had been too busy to get to :). (Really, how many days in a row can you have "clean bathrooms" on your list without getting to it?)
On Monday, I got together with a group of my friends for lunch. It was a blast!! Some of us will be leaving in the near future, and so we wanted to get together before our schedules got too crazy. We were the crazy ladies in the corner and probably had 5 conversations going at any one time. So fun! I sure love my friends here in Savannah and will miss them tons!
That night, for Family Home Evening, we planned Lily's birthday party. I had promised she could have one this year, and so even though it will be small, with only 5 friends, we want it to be fun. She picked the "Pretend Slumber Party" theme, and it should be very fun! We made the invitations – sleeping bags with the actual invite attached to the pillow inside. She loved decorating each sleeping bag :).
Tuesday night for Young Women's we did Yoga and Pilates. It was so fun, and we laughed a lot, mostly because we all had a hard time with the moves. It reminded me that although I am not a teenager anymore, I am still pretty good at that type of thing – probably only because I have been so good about exercising since Kevin has been gone :). Now if they had done this activity in February, I would probably still be sore from the workout.
The rest of the week was just the normal everyday stuff: Lily at school, playing with Derek, errands, housework (I did finally get to that bathroom.), and playing together. Oh, and occasional talks to Daddy on the web-cam. The kids are highly entertaining when they can see themselves on the screen, and so they usually watch themselves more than him :).
Friday was an especially great day for Lily – she made it the entire month of April with only green smiley faces!! It has been a huge goal of hers and we are so happy for how far she has come with her behavior at school. She is such a sweetheart!
On Friday night was part two of our good-bye parties. (Monday was because not everyone could make it on Friday night.) We got together for dinner and a movie. It was a hilariously fun dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Once again, we had a million conversations going at once, tons of laughter, and we were very much like a group of teenage girls :). After dinner, most of us went to see "The Ghost of Girlfriends Past." It looked like it would be so cute in the trailer, but turned out to be super trashy and we were all disappointed. It was still a fun night though.
(Oh, and just a little side-note. My babysitter got stuck in traffic because of an accident on the road, and it just so happened that Marilyn's oldest son, Tyler, had just gotten into town, and so was able to watch the kids for an hour, until Ariel was finally able to get there. What a blessing!!!)
Today has been so nice compared to the chaos of our past two Saturdays. We had piano, played a while, ran a few errands, and then had the kid's last swimming lesson here in Georgia. Lily was really sad as we left, thinking it would be her last lesson EVER, and said, "Mom,I guess now I will never be a world famous swimmer." (I never knew that was her goal – he he!) I convinced her that it was fine, and that she could always just be a great swimmer like daddy, which perked her right up. That, and our lunch at McDonald's :).
Right now, the kids are playing at a friend's house, and I don't exactly know what to do with myself :). Posting has been a good idea. Later we are going to a BBQ, and then we will have baths and go to bed to be ready for Sunday. What a great week.
