I guess our Valentine adventures really began with making Lily's Valentines, but they continued with cookie adventures on Thursday. After a long day visiting teaching and running errands, and a trip with Lily to the dentist, we still had to make cookies for Lily's party the next day.
Thank goodness Kevin brought us home some dinner, because even though I used my super easy cake-mix cookie recipe, we barely finished baking them before bedtime. That meant Lily and I had to hurry and decorate them before she left for school on Friday. They turned out adorable and the party was a lot of fun, and so it was worth it.
That night Kevin and I continued our tradition of our "night before Valentine's date." We went to Sticky Fingers, and after our yummy ribs, we wandered around the mall searching for new running shoes for Kevin, and rented a few movies to watch. Exciting, I know, but it was perfect for us :).
Then on Valentine morning, I got up and made the kids a yummy breakfast, although Lily was disappointed we didn't have heart shaped everything. (I think I created crazy expectations for the day by what I did 2 years ago. Oops.) She soon forgave that when Kevin came out with his Valentine surprises, and they got other presents and cards to open as well. So they are a little spoiled – oh well :).
The rest of the day was spent at swimming lessons, buying Lily a pretty new dress, and playing guitar hero. The highlight of the day came that afternoon when we picked up Brian and Rachel at the airport, but that is a story for another post. Happy Valentine's Day!
