From the first of February, Lily and I have been working hard on Valentine card crafts.  (We did it last year as well, and it was a blast.)  I know someday I will not have the time or energy to help Lily make homemade cards, but until then, we sure have fun with it.

First we started with the cousins' cards.  Lily made one card for each family, plus her grandparents.  They were simple one that she made with almost no help at all from me.  She had so much fun being creative.  My favorite part was watching her use my clipboard as she personalized each one :).

Then we had the classroom cards.  I let her thumb through my binder of ideas from old Family Fun magazines.  She settled on these cute ones with homemade heart crayons attached.  These were a lot of work for both of us, and I have to say the hardest part was peeling all the crayons we melted down.  (My thumbs hurt for days – he he!)  They turned out so cute though!

What a cute idea and what a great way to use old crayon stubs. I love that you put the heart crayons on papers that list reasons why you love someone. That is great!

Okay, so this post popped up on Google Reader this morning and I came over to comment, but realized that you had just posted it so I held back until now. I LOVE THOSE VALENTINES! Seriously, so adorable. I’m impressed with you for letting her do it and her for doing it so well. So much fun. I’m hoping to do some on Saturday…if Hailey starts feeling better.

    What a fun idea!
I remember when I was little I used my mom’s Primary clipboards any chance I could get–I felt so grown-up with a clipboard, I guess. 😀

Oh I remember that thumb pain! There’s got to be an easier way to peel those crayons!
So cute!!! We started to make our valentines, then E declared she was “tired” and wouldn’t personalize them…she said she’d let me. We are still battling that one out! Parents will love you for not giving candy!!!

so cute! We loved the card from Lily and it is hanging on our fridge.
Those crayons look so fun . . . and my goodness, A LOT of work for an entire Kindergarten class! We peeled a few crayons the other night to get enough shavings to make stained glass hearts (the kind where you melt the crayon inbetween sheets of wax paper). And that was enough peeling for me!

Those are so cute. I am now at the too lazy to hand make 3 sets of V-day cards, so I only hand did Sadie’s this year.

I was going to do those crayon hearts! We have PLENTY of small crayons already with the paper peeled, thanks to the kids. They just can’t seem to color with the papers on, and then they break so easily. But, I didn’t have the heart mold. I am going to try to find one after Valentine’s Day on sale to use for next year. They turned out so cute!!

Yes, peeling crayons is definitely rough work. But they turned out adorable! How fun! And I bet you made some delicious valentines treats, too.
BTW – did I tell you I used your Good Reads site to find recommendations for my mom? She has been having a hard time finding new, good books to read. So where did I go? Right to Lisa’s site to skim through all your suggestions. It sure was fun. I have a long list for myself now, too.

You’re so creative! I love the homemade crayon idea. We have the same heart molds from Target, but all we did with them was make jigglers and pink ice cubes 🙂
