This past weekend was jam packed with fun stuff.  It all started on Friday, when I went on a field-trip with Lily's class to Oatland Island.  It is a wildlife preserve with mostly animals that are indigenous to Georgia, like Alligators, armadillos, and some pretty awesome wolves.  (The wolves were huge and so close to us!)   There was even a goat at the petting zoo named Lily – he he!   I had so much fun with Lily, and she held my hand the whole time, because she was so excited I was there.  I love mom moments like that :).

Field trip and Circus 1-30 & 31-08
While Lily and I were out in the cold on the field-trip, Derek and Kevin were also braving the cold, but for a golf tournament that Kevin put together for his Battalion.  (Hey, if you want to get off work to play golf, plan a tournament so everyone can, right?)  Derek loves being out on the course with Kevin, and this time he even got to be free of the stroller and ride in a cart.  Oh, and Kevin got the longest drive, closest to the pin, and his team won – pretty awesome :).

Sawgrass and Bat
That night we had the Colvers over for games, and Victoria and I destroyed the boys so badly in pinochle, they might not let us play again for a while – he he!  The next day the kids had swimming, and not only did Derek go all the way under the water, but Lily swam the entire length of the pool on her back!  Such a breakthrough!

After swimming, we were off to the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey's Circus!!  Kevin had come home earlier and the week and suggested we go, and I am so glad we did.  It was fantastic!  Elephants, tigers, clowns, acrobats, and these amazing motorcycle tricks that had me thinking that someone might actually get killed right before my eyes – they were that scary!  The kids loved it, and were covered in stickiness from eating cotton candy.  And Lily laughed so hard at the clowns, that alone would have made it totally worth it.  Plus, it was Kevin's first circus, and hey, everyone needs to go to the circus sometime :).

Very fun! Is that Lily and Derek on the swinging bar?! If so how did they get a chance to do that? Way cool!!!
And holy cow, those wolves!?! You grow them big in Georgia!

Yes, it is them on the trapeze. It was a little one they had at the preshow. One of the clowns helped them up and spotted them the whole time – Derek never did stay holding on for more than 2 seconds at a time :). And yea, those wolves were huge!! I was very glad they were on the other side of the glass.

You do the most fun things of anyone I know! What a great weekend. I on the other hand spent the weekend fighting Strep Throat. Blah! Supposedly they have coyotes at the Pocatello zoo but I’ve never seen them in the four times I’ve been there. Plus they are probably a lot wimpier than those wolves.

I remember my Grandma taking us to the circus every summer when we were little. It was always so exciting to see the crazy tricks and neat animals.
I’m glad you had a fun weekend! You are such a fun, adventurous family!

I love the circus! I have not been since I was a kid. I love field trips. We haven’t been on a field trip in a while, since Eliza was born. We’ll have to start again! Way to go on the swimming! I used to be a little bit scared of the water when I was younger, so I think it’s great that Lily and Derek are jumping in with both feet! Literally! 🙂
