Lily has always amazed me, but even more so the past little while. One minute she is talking to me about things like a little adult, and the next moment she is just the cutest little girl you can imagine. (Oh, and sometimes she reminds me of a teenager already, but lets not go there.) I love watching her learn new things, make friends, and grow.
Two weeks ago, when I went to help out in her room, her teacher wanted me to take pictures of all the kids. It was so much fun, since I have never remember to take photos when I am there. It was a great chance to catch Lily in her element. I caught snack time, show and tell, and Centers. (She was at "housekeeping," which explains the dress-up clothes.)
The other day, she and I had a conversation about the Tooth Fairy - I guess a few kids in her class have lost a tooth, and so she was curious. She really caught me by surprise, and asked me point blank if there is a tooth fairy. She did it in such a way that I just could NOT lie to her and say there really was a fairy, and so I let her know that her daddy and I are the tooth fairy, and that it is part of our job as parents. I also mentioned that it was a big secret, and she could not tell her friends.
Last Friday, Lily really wanted to take her crown and ballerina costume for show and tell. Actually, she wanted to wear them to school, but they don't really fit in with the school uniform standards :). I even had to put her hair in two little buns. When I picked her up, she was wearing her ballerina costume over her school uniform – he he! It was so cute! I wasn't fast enough to catch it on film before she got out of her uniform, but here is my ballerina princess . . .
When Lily went to kindergarten, I remember praying that she would make good friends. She is so outgoing and friendly, but as a parent, you still worry. Well, I shouldn't have been worried. She made lots of friends, and even a best friend, Alexandra. We have had her over a few times to play, and they are hilarious. Lily gets so excited that she can't stop talking for a second – explaining every little detail of everything to her friend. It takes a little bit for me to calm her down :). Last time they had a tea party, and it was so fun, I had to take pictures . . .
I love having a little girl. How can you beat tea parties and ballerina princesses? It almost makes up for all the emotional drama – he he!
