Derek had his 3rd birthday on Sunday, and it was a great day. He had been talking for weeks about his "Playhouse Disney Birthday party" he was going to have. Since I wasn't about to invite over a bunch of 3 and unders like I did for Lily's 3rd birthday, I decided to invite some of Derek 's favorite people – the Colvers, the Cardiffs, and the Jones. Even though the Cardiff's couldn't come, it was still a fun party and Derek was perfectly happy.
Some of the highlights of his birthday were:
The Birthday breakfast – "Square Pancakes" – What he and Lily call German Pancakes
The Decorations – there weren't many, but Lily did decorate some red balloons with music notes to match our theme. (And she had me play some classical music too.)
The Birthday Presents – Lily made a Present train for him, so he could get them one by one :).
More Present Adventures – notice the picture where he is wearing his Clone Wars underwear over his sweats :).
The Birthday Cake – he wanted it to be a Disney's Little Einsteins Cake (Lily helped me decorate it – notice the fun designs.)
Blowing Out the Candles and more Fun with Cake
He loved his presents, talking on the phone/computer with his grandparents, playing with his friends, and eating the frosting off his cake. What a great day :).
And just for fun, here are some pictures I took that morning before church. I was trying to get one of him alone first, but he does not hold still.
Then I tried him and Lily together.
Lastly, I rigged my camera and tried to have Lily just push the button. Everytime she did it, she would move the camera. I don't know why I didn't just use the timer – he he!
