Derek's face says it all :).
This has been one crazy month, and after this week, it might finally start slowing down. (Just in time for the holidays – he he!)
Our days have been packed, and our weekends overflowing. Mostly with good things, but I must say, that it really is possible to have too much of a good thing. Oh well. Here is what we have been up to . . .
Last Sunday we went to our dear friends, the Cardiff's, for a low country boil (They throw shrimp, sausage, potatoes, and corn on the cob in a huge pot and boil it, and then they dump it out on a table and you help yourself.). The reason for the celebration was that Hayden got his mission call. He opened it for all of us, and is going to Rome, Italy. So exciting! Oh, and of the 30 people there, Lily was the only one who guessed where he was going correctly – he he!
Our week was full of school, work, and church stuff, but on Friday we had time for fun. Kevin got to play in a 4-man Scramble with Hayden , Brent, and Jordan. It was raining on them the whole time, but they didn't care, and had a great time.
That afternoon, after I helped in Lily's class, we headed out with the kids and the Jones to go see High School Musical 3. It was so fun and I loved it! Derek was only good for about the first hour, but that was a record for him. He liked to stand in the aisle and dance to the music, which was fine, until he tried to run away.
Lily loved it, but was only sad because we wouldn't let her stand up and dance. Oh well, hopefully it will go to DVD quickly, and then they can dance around as much as they want. We are already loving the soundtrack, which is happily playing in my van :). Oh, and please excuse the terrible photo – my phone does not take good pics – but I couldn't resist Lily and the HSM sign.
Saturday was a whirlwind!! Kevin had to work, but luckily didn't have to go in right away, so I was able to leave Derek with him while I took Lily to soccer pictures, then piano lessons, then back to soccer for her game. All of which went well, but it was way too much driving.
We got back just in time for Kevin to leave, and for Lily to change her clothes, before we were off in the car again, this time to a birthday party for Lily's best friend, Eliana. By the time the party was over, I was so tired, I had to call my mom just to keep me awake for the 45 minute drive home.
Needless to say, I was not at all excited about going that night to our ward Fall Festival. Lily overheard me tell a friend I was only coming for the trunk-or-treat at the end, and she was so upset, I told her to figure out a way for her to get to go early.
She decided that John and Victoria could take her, but after her calling Victoria, leaving the most adorable message, then calling back, and she still couldn't get ahold of her, Lily decided on another favorite person, Marilyn. Marylin was home, and so Lily, decked out in her hula costume, headed off to the party with them. (No, I did not make her fabulous costume, my friend Saundra did.)
I was left with the adventure of getting Derek into his Jedi costume, which for some reason, he won't put on. He loves Jedi's – plus, he picked it out himself, however, that didn't stop the tantrum when I tried to get it on him. It took Kevin coming home from work and using "the force" to get that kid into his Jedi robe and a pair of pants. Doesn't he make an adorable Jedi though?
By the time we got to the church for the trunk-or-treat, I was ready to curl up on the couch and sleep. The kids had a great time. We collected Lily from our friends, who said she was fantastic, and I led the kids around to get their candy. They were adorable, and it was worth it. (I was the first one to leave though, especially since Kevin had to go back to work.)
After it all was said and done, it was a great week, even if it was a little out of control. The best parts were all the times we spent together.
