At the beginning of the summer, Lily made a list of things she wanted to do during the summer. It listed everything from playing playdoh, to golfing with daddy, to going to the beach and her drama camp. Their were two things on the list I was a little confused about, "Lily's Honors*" and "Lily's Great Day." As the days of summer vacation decreased rapidly, I looked at her list to realize that "Lily's Great Day" hadn't happened yet, which leads us to today . . .
If you all hadn't already guessed, I am such a sucker for my kids. I am firm in my discipline and rules, but when my kids are super cute and want something adorable, it is hard to say no. So, when Lily asked if she could go to a "salon" to get her hair and nails done, I thought it would be the perfect way to celebrate before school starts on Tuesday, and would definitely qualify for her "great day."
So this morning, after taking a before pictures of her hair and her nails, we headed to the mall for "Lily's Great Day."
Before: Hair
I had made a list of possible places we could go, especially without appointments, but decided to start at the salon in Dillard's first, since they do hair and nails. Well, we got lucky and they got us right in, and Lily started out getting her very first manicure. She was so cute during the whole thing, and the lady who did her nails was so taken with her, that she didn't charge me! Wow!
After her nails were dry, it was time to get her "hairstyle." Lily even looked through the books at all the hairstyles, but all we did was trim it a few inches and taper the front to meet up with the bangs she is growing out. She got the whole treatment though – a wash, cut, and blow-dry/style. Lily truly ate it up.
It was so cute to see how happy she was with her new look. She kept talking about how she couldn't wait to show her friend Ellie her turquoise nails. What a cutie!
After we were finished, we even met up with Kevin and Derek and went out to lunch – definitely the makings of "Lily's Great Day." I decided that this will have to be our fun before school tradition every year.
*"Lily's Honors" – Lily said that this was a big celebration with all of our friends, where we would eat food and play games. This sounded just like what we did for the Fourth of July, so I counted it :).
