He he! I had to get something in there to tease Kevin, now that he is 30, since I am five months older than him and he is always letting me know it :).
Yesterday was Kevin's birthday, and unlike my extravaganza, Kevin wanted to keep it as simple as possible. He would have killed me if I had thrown him a party like the one he threw me (which I loved). So, his main birthday gift was that I went against all my natural instincts and was true to his wishes, not even having anyone over for cake.
It was a great day, and although the pouring rain all day thwarted Lily's present of a daddy/daughter golfing date, we made the best of it. Kevin, by some miracle, actually had the day off and was in town! So, he slept in, and then we all spent the morning watching Star Wars – a perfect activity.
Then we had a snack and headed out to our family bowling adventure, and an adventure it was. Can I just tell you how adorable little kid bowling shoes are?
Lily loved it, except for when she tripped and fell with her bowling ball and got hurt. She did awesome, scoring a 101! Derek even had fun, when he wasn't trying to run away, and Kevin had a great time as well – we were bowling after all. And yes, if you look at the scores, I came in last – yes, I lost to my 2 year old, even with the bumpers, but I still had a great time :).
After bowling we headed to Sticky Fingers for Kevin's birthday ribs – yum! It is one of the places we will really miss when we finally leave Savannah. Then it was home to watch another Star Wars movie while I finished the cake.
Lily, the queen of birthday cake decisions, decided that Kevin really needed a golf ball cake, and being the sucker I am, I tried to comply. It definitely wasn't something off of Ace of Cakes, but I was pretty happy with how it turned out, considering I had no idea how to do it. Then we had presents, and once again my real present was going along with Kevin's wishes and getting him only a few small things. But hey, it all made Kevin happy, which my true goal.
Happy Birthday Kevin! I will never regret stopping by to wish you a happy birthday 8 years ago – who would have known back then how many birthday we would spend together :).
