So, by now you must be thinking that Kevin is pretty darn lucky. Playing in two major pro-ams, tons of free stuff, and loads of free golf on amazing courses. Doesn't it end there? Well, no. On Tuesday, the one day last week Kevin didn't play golf, we were at the driving range as a family, and he got a phone call to see if he could play in another tournament. This one was down in Jekyll Island – a beatiful area an hour south of Savannah. And who can say no to free golf?
It was a fundraiser for the Military and was put on by Clyde's Convenience Store chain. His free gifts for this one were a little different than his two previous tournaments (an Aquafina hat, a golf shirt covered in advertisements – think Nascar, and a bag of chips and treats), but were still fun. The kids especially loved his bag of treats.
He played with another all-miltary team, Mike, Cap and Eric. Mike was even one of the guys he played with at the Verizon. They had a great time, and even found sport in taunting an alligator. Not the smartest thing, mind you, but one of the guys in their group was reall freaked out and so they couldn't resist.
It all began because Kevin came a few feet from hitting it with a golf ball – and yes, he was aiming for the alligator – I know, I know. The gator decided to come check them out, and as you will see from the pictures and the video, he got pretty darn close before the guys finally left. Crazy!
It was definitely another fun golf adventure for Kevin, and after an awesome few weeks, he now has to go back to work and to the real world. But at least he has the great memories to take with him :).
