As if it could get any more exciting than Kevin's other adventure, but somehow it did.  Last week Kevin got to play in the ProAm for the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf tournament held at the Westin Savannah Harbor.  Pretty exciting!

DAY 1:  It all began last Tuesday night with the Pairings Party – it was where they were assigning a group of amateurs to a Pro.  Not really sure what on earth to expect, we got a sitter, dressed up, and headed to the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.

Kevin checked in and received a small white bag, and so while we were waiting for the buffet dinner to begin, we checked out what was inside.  We were wondering what it could be after the awesomeness of last time, and inside we found a beautiful new golf shirt, a new golf towel, and a little red box.  When I opened the little red box, I just started laughing – it was insane!!  In the box was a very large Callaway gift card!!  Can we say, fun free golf stuff in Kevin's future?

We wandered into the ballroom (A little overdressed, but it's all good.), and met up with some of the other military guys Kevin would be playing with.  We all got our food, which was good, but I was laughing all night that the dinner plates were TINY.  They were the size of a saucer, which was so strange.  They had great desserts though, and since we were some of the few who were on time, we actually had time to eat before the pairings began.

The pairings part was awesome!  We went into another room where they had a screen set up, and the computer randomly paired each group with a different pro for each day of the pro-am.  This being the Champions (Senior PGA) Tour, it was packed full of awesome people that Kevin grew up watching play golf, and so he was excited for anyone.  They ended up with Gary Koch for Wednesday and D.A. Weibring for Thursday – both awesome guys.

It definitely left Kevin pumped and excited for . . .

DAY 2:  Although he didn't tee off until 12:30, he left bright and early to check things out.  And things were awesome.  For lunch, they had a nice buffet lunch, and when Kevin told me how great the desserts were, I didn't understand until I saw the pictures – yum!  And hey, normal sized plates :).

Gary Koch, their professional, was such a nice guy, the course was gorgeous, and they shot 10 under for the day.  Dscn0113_2Kevin said that one of the most fun things was since Gary is a golf announcer, every time he talked about one of their shots, it felt like they were on TV :).Dscn0114_2

All this fun leads us to  . . .

DAY 3:  Thursday morning Kevin was up even earlier for his 7:30 am tee time.  Today he played with another great guy, D.A. Weibring.  He was such a nice guy, he even stuck around when they were finished to have lunch and talk with Kevin and the guys for another hour.  Pretty cool.

Collage3Today he also got up close and personal with some alligators.  Dscn0118Here is one on #2 and then another one on #11.  (It puts Chubs from Happy Gilmore in a whole new light :).  He he!)  And yes, Kevin was only about 5-10 feet away from the second one.

Dscn0128   He had an amazing time, and got home just in time to take a nap and clean up to take me to the awards banquet.  Thinking that people would be coming straight from the course, and after being so overdressed for the last party, we still wore nice clothes, but didn't get as fancy.  Then we get to the ballroom of the Westin, and have person after person arrive in fancy dresses and nice suits!  There were women dripping in diamonds, and so my cute little church dress did not feel cute enough  I was so bitter with myself for not taking advantage of an opportunity to be fancy – oh well.  I did get over it, eventually.

The ballroom was absolutely gorgeous and our tables were works of art.

Dscn0136   And the food was even more amazing and delicious.  Dscn0137I had to take a picture as they brought us each course – YUM!!  This dinner was so worth letting Kevin play golf all week – he he!

Collage4 All in all, it was such a great week for Kevin, and was really a once in a lifetime experience that he will never forget.

Img_9939 PS.  On Saturday, while Lily and I were out playing, Kevin took Derek to watch the Legends of Golf Tournament.  He loved it, and Kevin said he kept saying, "It's the golf game!"  And he was even quiet too.  How much fun!  Here's a picture of my golfing guys.
