On Saturday, I got a call from my friend, Victoria, and soon, instead of spending the day cleaning, Lily and I were on our way with her to a Sidewalk Art Festival put on by the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). It turned out to be so much fun, and i am SO glad we went. Here are the highlights . . .
- All the fun activities they had for kids – Lily got to play on some of those huge inflatable toys.
- The great art activities they had for her as well – it was put on by SCAD after all :). She got to paint a sun-catcher, a rock, and get her face painted. She loved it!
- A fun picnic lunch on the lawn.
- Looking at all the amazing things those SCAD students were able to do with a square of sidewalk and some chalk.
- Getting lots of exercise. (That is my positive spin on the fact that we ended up parking about 15-20 blocks away – I lost track.)
- Having an AMAZING red velvet cupcake at the Back in the Day Bakery – something I have been dreaming about for a while. So good, and so sad I don't have a picture of it. Victoria tried out the lemon coconut, and Lily had a "newborn" cupcake, which is what they call the mini ones. She had strawberry shortcake and loved it as well.
- Having the out of nowhere torrential rainstorm not start until we were 2 blocks from the car at the bakery. I ran to get the car and got soaked from head to toe. (Victoria and I were feeling bad for the artists whose art had to have been washed away by the rain. So sad.)
- Getting out and enjoying Savannah. We really are so lucky to live in such a fun place :).
