Img_8628_2 After about six weeks of Derek going from one terrible cold to another, he is finally his old self.  It had been so long since he was his cheerful hilarious self, that Kevin and I had forgotten just how silly the little guy is :).  So I thought I would share of few of the silly things that make him Derek . . .

He is always asking one of us, "What that sound like?"  Usually he'll follow it up with an answer, such as, "I think that sounds like a bird." – or a helicopter, or train, etc.  And he is almost always right too.  Pretty fun.

He has decided that he likes watching "Dancing with the Stars" with me :).  The other day when I put it on, he jumped on the couch and got all comfy, ready to watch.

His favorite new word is "never."  He uses it to mean "no" or "don't" and he says it constantly.  For example, "You never take that toy away from me!"  And I have to say that it is so funny when he says it, that I always bust up laughing, no matter how big a tantrum he is throwing at the time.

He has taken to whacking things when he gets angry – a wall, a table, a chair.  The other day when he was told no for something, he lifted up his hand ready to whack something, but couldn't find anything acceptable, and so he wandered around the room with his hand raised until he got to the kitchen table.  Kevin and I were laughing the whole time.  (And yes, I am really hoping we can get rid of this habit before he gets strong enough to actually damage something.)

He loves to lay back in the water when he is taking a bath.  He has been doing this one for a while, but I finally got a picture.  Even if he is out of control crying, if I lay him back in the water, he calms down instantly and starts making relaxed happy noises.

Img_8629  He constantly has something in his hands, usually rotating between toy cars, golf balls, coins, toy golf clubs, or a baseball.  And he tries to carry as many as he can at one time.  He is also pretty gifted at sneaking them out of the apartment when we are headed to the car.

There are so many other silly things he does, like singing, how he wakes up in the morning, constantly begging us to play different games with him, his chattering away nonstop, etc.  I could go on and on.  I am just glad to have my happy, healthy boy back!

I’m right there with you on sick kids. Anna has been sick forever which means she has been grumpy, crabby, and whiny. I HATE whiny. ugh. I can’t wait for her to finally get better!
Derek looks cute laying on the couch!
