Wow, this week has completely flown, and although it was so much less stressful than last week, it ended up almost as busy and pretty crazy.  I thought I would break it down into the lists – "The Bad List" and "The Good List" . . .

The Bad List:

  • Kevin having to be gone again all week.
  • Letting Lily eat too much of the raw pizza dough, and having it all come back up late that night – all over her and her bed.  Poor girl!!
  • Derek waking up with a high fever, and still having it four days later.  The poor little guy was so sick last night, it was heartbreaking.
  • Not getting any sleep, because of Derek being sick.
  • Having to go to the doctor on Wednesday, and having it take FOREVER!  I even peaked out the door of the exam room they put me in, because it had been 45 minutes without anyone coming.
  • Getting released from my calling in the Primary Presidency – after 2 1/2 years, it was time, but so very sad!!!
  • Getting horribly sick myself, the second I got home from church on Sunday.

The Good List:

  • Miraculously being blessed with extra patience this week, so that I was able to be a nice mom, instead of a mean one.  It also helped immensely with the sick kids.
  • Having random friends call and check on me throughout the week.
  • Lily and Derek, although they didn't listen any better than usual, played together better than ever.
  • Meeting Suzanne for lunch, and then having her watch my kids so I could go to my appointment.
  • Kevin leaving me with a great Star Wars book, I, Jedi, to occupy my evenings.
  • Having Suzanne come over for dinner that night, and having a blast together so that we didn't think about our husbands being gone.  (Her husband has been in Iraq almost a year.)
  • Having my friend Val come over for lunch one day, and having so much talking while the kids got to play with each other.
  • Kevin giving me an early birthday present of a new monitor before he left, and so I got to organize our computer desk, and it looks so much better :).  Check out the before

  • Kevin coming home Friday night!
  • Victoria and I winning at pinochle Friday night, and putting the guys in their place – he he!
  • Taking Lily on a special date to see "Alice in Wonderland," a play that our friend's son was in.  (It deserved it's own post, see below.)
  • Victoria and John bringing us dinner when they found out how sick we all ended up this weekend.

Img_6431It has really been a wild week, and I don't think it is going to slow down any time soon.  Thank goodness for my silly kids, great friends, and awesome husband who keep me smiling every day.

Glad Kevin is home- and what a cute picture of you and the kids. The flu has sure run the rounds this spring!

That flu has been rampant on our side of the world also. I hope that everybody is feeling better. I do love the times when I can be a nice mom instead of a mean mom. When my patience is wearing thin, I tell my kids “Don’t make me bring mean mom out”

yay for a new computer monitor!
The Alice in Wonderland play looks so cute! I’ve taken Conner to a few local plays at the high school (Peter Pan, Beauty & the beast) and he always loves them.

What? They released you from primary? I can’t even imagine that. You’ll have to tell us where you end up next… Can you even imagine going back to Relief Society?
And sorry you’ve all been so sick lately. THat is NO fun.

So glad that you are feeling better. I’m just now getting over it. I’m impressed (but not surprised) that you were able to be a nice mom through your crazy week. My poor kids didn’t fair so well. I meant to find out how you felt about being released on Sunday, but you know I had to rush Ella home. It will be nice to have you in RS – that is if they let you stay. I wouldn’t be surprised if you end up in YW.

UGH! That bad list was pretty scary! So do you have a new calling yet? I’ve been in for over 2 years now, so I know my time it drawing close, but I’m worried about where they’ll put me once I’m done. I love the kids!

I’m so sorry that you got the sickies!!! It has just been nasty this year. Somehow Todd and I managed to not get it, but the boys did. Today I woke up all congested and thought “oh know, here it comes” but so far so good 🙂
It does sound like you are surrounded by great friends to keep an eye on you and keep you company while Kevin is gone. I love hearing about that! I think you do great holding down the fort. Like I said before, you’re like the enigizer bunny!
Your desk looks great 🙂 I love getting new stuff!
I hope you are all feeling better and that you get a new calling soon that you love!

Oh! I’m so sorry you were all sick. I seriously don’t know a single family that hasn’t been hit by the flu this year… Anyway, that’s what life is about, though, the good and the bad, and learning to focus on the good and be positive about the bad.
