Img_8137_3Lily makes holidays so fun.  She is forever counting down to the next one, and is so excited when there is an extra reason for celebration and decorations.  Valentine's Day was no different.  On February 1st, she had me pulling out all my old classroom decorations and putting stuff up all over the house, just to give you a clue.  Because of this, I wanted to make it a special day for her (even if nothing would compare to the craziness I did for her last year).

We started with some Valentine crafts.  my favorite was making magnet Valentine's for all her cousins and grandparents.  They turned out super cute (That is what she is with in the first picture).  Then there were the class Valentines, which I scaled back quite a bit, but she still loved making.  My favorite thing was watching her color them.  On each one of them she drew a different part of a story she was telling as she worked.  At one point she showed me a finished one and said, "Here's you talking to the Valentine fish, Mom."  So funny!

Today, I gave her a special breakfast of heart shaped toast and hot cocoa, along with her Valentine surprises (Because what's better than a Fancy Nancy sticker book and a box of chocolates??)  Then she was off to preschool, where they had their own special Valentine's Day party.  And after that, her daddy picked her up for a Valentine's date with dad for lunch.  She has had a great day so far.

I have really been enjoying Lily so much these days.  She is doing a great job with her chore chart, and it has been so much fun to have her helping me with the housework, even if it is just emptying part of the silverware out of the dishwasher.  This has also led me to discover a way in which she and I are alike.  She LOVES to straighten all the silverware in the tray, making them line up us neatly as possible – which, crazily enough, is something I used to do to my mother's silverware drawer.  It is the cutest thing ever!

Collage1 Kevin is also having great times with Lily.  Last Saturday he gave into her adorable pleading to get out his "packed away Lego sets."   He asked her what she wanted to build, and soon they were creating "Princess Leia's castle" (even though we don't have a Princess Leia figure).  It turned out great, and she loves playing with it.  She definitely has a lot in common with her daddy as well :).  What a silly and sweetheart girl!

What a cute idea with the magenets. Did you buy the magnets already done, she just added her drawing? Or did you send them off to get made? I love how she is making the silverware draw perfect!

As usual, you’re so much fun! I was inspired last year by your V-day activities, that I actually did something this year! Everything we ate was in the shape of a heart….right down to the ice cream with our brownies! The kids loved it. So what’s next for St. Patricks Day??? 🙂

This Valentine’s Day I was actually thinking about the awesome day you put on for Lily last year. You are amazing! And Lily is getting so big. I just can’t believe it!
