From the time that boy of mine could roll himself around at 3 months old, he was obsessed with shoes. Even when I would hide my flip flops from him and move all shoes "out of his reach," Derek still managed to get to them.
At first, it was to chew on them like a puppy, but as soon as he was big enough, he began trying them on and walking in them. It didn't matter whose they were, or even what style, he wanted shoes. I have caught him in everything from my tennis shoes, to Kevin's massive Army boots.
When he has his own shoes on, he throws a fit if you take them off – the complete opposite of his sister who will remove her shoes every time she enters a building, unless we force her to keep them on. Looking back, I think one of his first words was "shoe." What are you going to do :)?
**I thought I would also add a few funny things about Derek lately.
When he gets angry or sad now, instead of throwing himself on the floor like he used to do, he runs into his room and throws himself on his bed crying, "Ma to bed!"
He LOVES for me to take his picture, and if he realizes what I am doing, he gives me a big cheesy grin. The only problem is, he usually comes up so close to the camera that I can't take the picture.
He is obsessed with Kevin's video games, which is funny, since Kevin really only plays them like once a month. He knows exactly where we store the rubermaid totes with the games, and any time our bedroom is open, I catch him crawling under our bed to pull them out.
He also LOVES to sing, and my favorite thing is driving in the car listening to him sing along to primary songs or High School Musical. Fun times!
