Lily truly never ceases to make us laugh, or amaze us for that matter. I should have known, that a little girl who loved Ninja Warrior as much as she did, would be a sucker for the newest version of American Gladiators.
Not only does my silly little girl love to watch it with her daddy – she asks him every day if there is a new one – but she acts it all out as it goes along. She has even memorized the names of the different challenges. Yesterday she was chasing Derek around saying, "I'm the Gladiator and he's the contender. I'm going to block him." We had to stop things, however, when she thought she should knock him down though – he he!
But of all of this, my favorite thing was the other night when she had Kevin build her an obstacle course to get through, just like the contenders do in the show. I videoed it, and you'll have to see for yourself – pretty funny.
Note: If you listen carefully, you can hear Derek yelling in the background because Kevin was holding him back from the course.
In other fronts, Lily has been doing fine. She has been going through one of those "testing/disobedient" phases lately, but is really doing better the past few days. I have been trying to praise her a lot more to make up for all the punishment she was getting, and I think it is helping.
We also started using a cute chore chart, and it makes her excited to do a lot of the simple things she would complain about before. I even included a "big job" she could help me with everyday, like emptying the dishwasher, folding laundry, dusting, etc. The thing is, she loves doing the chores, because she gets to mark them off on her chart. I will be happy for as long as it works, especially if she is happier and helping me around the house :).
I also have to say that I LOVE watching Lily play with playdoh. Yesterday she wanted to make a fancy birthday cake with her playdoh (which might have something to do with all the "Ace of Cakes" she and I have been watching together). We even rolled out the "frosting" like fondant – he he! So cute!
And lastly, I thought I would leave you with Lily's (and my) new favorite song. It is called "If the Savior Stood Beside Me," and is one of the ones for the Primary Program this year, and it is so pretty!! I am teaching it to her to sing for my sharing time in March :).
