Although New Year's Eve was quite anti-climactic, New Years day was a party at the Brown's house.  We have finally found friends who like college football (or sports in general) as much as Kevin.  We haven't had that since way back in Spanish Fork with Glenn and LaDawna, and so, we were finally able to have a true "Pig Out" Bowl game party.Img_7619

This was a happy thing for all involved, because it gave me people to play with while Kevin watched football from dawn until . . . way too late at night.  We stocked up on every kind of snack/finger food and invited over the Cardiff family.  While Kevin watched the games with Tom and Hayden (their 18 year old), I played games with September and Camen (their 13 yr old), while the kids tried to join in with all of us.

It was such a fun day, and here are some of the highlights:

*Feeling better, so I could actually eat the snacks.

*Lily finally getting to make sugar cookies with cookie cutters, and wearing her adorable apron from her Grandma Valerie.Img_7610_2

*Kevin banishing my tray with the ranch dressing to the table so it wouldn't "ruin" his snacks – he he!

*Kevin getting creative and using his laptop to add a 3rd TV to the mix.  (He kept telling me that we should have thought to buy a new TV, just for that purpose – whatever.)

*When Lily and Tazman (their 6 yr old) were arguing over what game to play, Lily stating, "We need to compromise."  She even knew what it meant, and then proceeded to explain it to Taz.  That girl!

Img_7624 *September bringing her new chocolate fountain over for the party – so yummy and we ate too much!!

*Running into the Sister Missionaries while we were out searching for strawberries to use with the chocolate fountain, and having them come over to spend the rest of their "P-day" playing games with us.  Fun times!!

*Everybody randomly winning at least one game.  It happened by chance, but sure helped to breed good feelings for all.  I won at "Loot" and "Apples to Apples," the Sisters won at "Top Ten," September whipped us all at "Yahtzee," and Camen won "Go Fish."   (The little kids never stuck with us for an entire game, but they didn't care.)

*The slingshot monkey finally having to be taken away, as it was being used a little too much.

*Derek trying to get Tom to tickle him every time he walked by.  And Derek spending quite a bit of time with the football crowd.

Img_7623

*At the end, finally convincing the guys to play a game of "Catch Phrase" with us, and having them destroy us.  Then being grateful that was the only game they played with us – he he!

*Taz finally getting his wish of playing the flour game, and me being the loser who had to fish the penny out of the pile of flour.  It was vile, just so you know.  Taz thought it looked so fun, he did it just because, but changed his mind once he tasted the flour.  Maybe it needs to be played with powdered sugar . . .

*Camen and September helping me clean the kitchen, and so when the party was over, all we had to do was move the couches back.  So nice!

*Having an entire family over at our house for more than 8 hours, but not getting sick of them being there.

It was such a fun day, and really made up for our weekend.  And hey, I think it was such a success that it will be a tradition for as long as we all live in Savannah :).

That sounds like my fun. I know that the Oregon Browns had a ton of junk food too. How nice to have such fun family traditions!

That sounds like so much fun! We spent New Year’s Eve in BED! We were in a time zone 2 hours later than us and we couldn’t even manage to stay up until midnight.
