On Friday Kevin was able to take the day off, and it worked out perfectly. First, he was able to help me get things ready for the carpet cleaners to come, but most important, he got to come with me to Lily's Thanksgiving Feast. Her preschool was putting it on for all the parents to come eat a special lunch with their child. So, we dropped Derek off at my friend Suzanne's, and we headed to Lily's school.
The scene that awaited us when we arrived had to be the cutest thing ever. Lily, and her nine classmates, were lined up on the sidewalk to greet all the arriving parents. AS people would walk up, they would all shout, "Happy Thanksgiving!" (She is in the oldest class, which is why they got to be there. There were too afraid the little ones might make a break for it. They still had the kids holding a rope to remind them to stay where they were though.)
Once it was time to begin, all the students put on a cute little program, singing and dancing to Thanksgiving songs. (I am still kicking myself that I didn't bring my video camera. Oh well.) Then we got our food and shared a feast with Lily. It was so much fun, made even better by how happy she was to have us there sharing it with her.
The rest of the weekend has been full of lots of daddy time, putting Lily's new bed together (will post pictures soon), going out to eat, and Ward Conference today. We have also been trying to catch up on the 3 weeks of our TV shows we have on our DVR. It is pretty fun though to get to watch 3 episodes of Smallville or How I Met Your Mother back to back :).
It has been a good weekend, and although I am exhausted, I am enjoying every minute we have Kevin home before he has to leave for another 2 weeks on Saturday. I had better get going . . . and I had better get my turkey out of the freezer right now so I don't forget 🙂 – last year it almost wasn't defrosted in time.
