Yesterday we were able to go have a special Thanksgiving lunch with Kevin for his last day at WLC.  Lily had been counting down the days, as were the rest of us.  So, once again we braved the drive and went out to be with daddy.  As soon as we pulled up, Derek immediately started jumping for joy.  Img_6796_2

When Kevin walked up, the kids almost didn't recognize him because he was wearing his PT uniform – pretty hilarious.  Then Kevin chased Derek at the little playground until it was time for lunch.  I can't even express how happy it made me to see the kids play with their daddy.  (If you look closely, you can see Kevin's M-16 hanging on his back.  They had to have their weapon with them at all times.)

Then we were off to the "chow hall" to eat.  All the senior enlisted NCO's and officers served us our food in their full dress uniforms.  It was awesome.  (Kevin said they did the same thing when he was at Basic Training for Thanksgiving.)  I love this picture of Lily eating in a sea of soldiers :).

The food was great, Derek was wild, and Lily was adorable.  I have to say that my favorite part was hearing all the wonderful things people said about my husband.  Every person I talked to, whether they were a classmate, a teacher, or a leader, all had amazing things to say about Kevin.  I was so proud of him.

You see, I have always known how amazing he is, but it is so great to see your spouse get the credit and praise they deserve.  One of the soldiers even said to me, "I understand why you wanted to marry him." (Yes, I am still giggling about that comment, especially considering all his friends who tried to convince me not to marry him.) He is graduating today as the honor graduate (#2 in his class – #1 was a good friend of his from his own unit, pretty cool).  I can't wait to see him this afternoon and celebrate as a family :).

PS.  I had to do all this bragging about him before he got home, so he couldn't stop me :).
