That Primary song has been running through my head all week, because it finally feels like autumn in Savannah. Things are good, and here are some of the high, low and in between points of our week:
- Like I said before, it finally feels like fall. It has been getting down to the mid 40's at night, and I even had to break out the hats and mittens to drop Lily off at school this morning. I still feel spoiled though, because it warms up to a gorgeous 65 degrees. I love this kind of weather. (No colder though, thank you very much.)
- We are over halfway finished with Kevin's WLC training – YEA! We have even been out to visit him a few times, which is quite the adventure. It is almost an hour each way out in the backwoods of Georgia on a tiny, windy, two lane highway. Doable during the day, but my drive home is pretty nerve wracking. It is worth it all though when Derek and Lily see their Daddy and run into his arms. I have never seen Derek's feet move that fast, and that is saying something since he is the fastest toddler I have ever seen.
- Lily just LOVES her preschool. She is always bringing home something fun that she has made, or telling us stories about her Spanish class with Pepe on Wednesdays. I feel so blessed to have found such an awesome place to take her.
- Derek is talking up a storm. He tries to say everything, and I often find him singing as well. He is already trying to tell me off though – the downside of children learning to speak :). It is pretty hilarious as he spouts off a tirade, most of which is unintelligible.
- This has been a much more low key week, thank goodness. Last week was too much for me. We have done some fun stuff, but have made sure to take time to chill. Last night we had a "slumber party" with my friend Suzanne and her kids. (Her husband is Iraq.) After dinner the kids got to watch Super Secret Super Spy and eat pudding. Then we put them to bed and "watched" Guys and Dolls. (We really talked.) At about 1:00am she took the kids home. It was a blast!
- I'm grateful this week has been less stressful, because I have felt horribly nauseous all week. I am on some new medication that is giving me all the horrible symptoms of being pregnant – nausea, food cravings, and even sensitivity to smells. It is awful, since all those things are bad enough when you actually have a reason for them. I think I am going to have to call my doctor and make a change.
- Derek has had an especially hard time dealing with Kevin being gone, and every time he sees the Accord, he says, "Daddy, daddy." In fact, a few minutes ago he pushed me to the front door saying, "Daddy home. Daddy home." It breaks your heart – he is just too young to understand. I am definitely counting my blessings that Kevin is only gone for a matter of weeks and not a year.
Derek tried all afternoon to help me in the kitchen, and his favorite thing was trying to wash the dishes. Unfortunately he is big enough to reach the faucet knobs now. Can we say trouble?
- I am so grateful for books and fun shows like Dancing with the Stars to help distract me when I need distracting :). (And for any other Dancing fans – isn't it so sad that Sabrina is gone?! She was my favorite. Now I am voting for Cameron and Mel B.)
- Speaking of being grateful, I am trying to come up with something I am grateful for each day. (Check it out in my sidebar.) And I am so grateful for these two silly kids!!!
