It is so hard for me to believe that my baby girl is really growing up, and nothing served as more of a reminder of that, than yesterday when she had her first day of preschool. Lily has been counting down for months for when she would get to go to school, and she could hardly sleep Tuesday night, she was so excited.
The night before, we put out her first day outfit, got her backpack ready, and she got a special father's blessing from Kevin. Wednesday morning, she was up, bright and early as always, and we were all out the door by 7:45am to take her to school. (Kevin even came with us, not wanting to miss this special "first" for Lily.)
When we got there, she was bursting with excitement, and couldn't wait to get started. I had to slow her down just enough to take a few pictures and then say good bye to me. It made it a lot easier that she was so happy about it all, but I sure was sad to say good bye to the youngest part of her childhood.
When I picked her up, she was exhausted, but happy. The four hours had really worn her out, and she fell asleep on the way home. When I finally got her to talk about her day, she wasn't very forthcoming, but then again, she is only four. I found out that she did "fun stuff," they "found things," that "the pink lemonade at school is really sour," and that her favorite part was when they got to play outside.
She loved it just as much as I knew she would, and immediately started asking when the next day of school is going to be :). What a sweetheart, and even though she is growing up, she will always be my baby.
