We have been pretty busy this past while, because I have been trying to make sure we don't waste away the summer, and so I have too much to post about, but oh well . . .

On Thursday our new ward had a Luau so that we could meet each other.  Lily was so excited about going to a luau, that she wore her Hawaiian pants and lei all day.  She also practiced her hula skills quite a bit – I should have videoed it :).  There was a pool at the house, and Kevin and the kids swam almost the whole time.  It was a lot of fun and made me even more excited about our new ward.Collage

Friday was a little crazy because Kevin had to do guard duty all night at the hospital.  (A guy had tried to commit suicide, and so he was on 24 hour watch.)  Because he was gone, I ended up staying up way too late reading – oh well.

Saturday was a day packed with adventures, none of which I had my camera for.  It started bright and early when Lily and I went to my friend's garage sale.  I helped Lily set up her juice stand – complete with a little sign.  And let me tell you what an amazing little salesman we have on our hands!!  From yelling out, "Come on down to Lily's juice stand," to grabbing people by the hand and leading them to her stand.  Once she got them there she would look up at them with her gorgeous smile and say, "Would you like to buy a glass of juice?"  Who could turn that down?!  Then she would offer them a "free cookie to go with it." She sold her juice for $0.25 a glass and made almost six dollars – some of which was from tips :).  Definitely a great memory!

Saturday night Kevin and I went out with two other couples for my friend Kristi's birthday, and we had a blast!  We all rode around in Kristi's minivan so we could talk as we went place to place.  After dinner at a fun BBQ joint, we went to Coldstone for dessert, and then to Barnes and Noble to look for books.  Kevin and the guys found this book called, The Dangerous Book for Boys, and they all wanted it.  We laughed so hard and had so much fun, I can't wait to do it again.

Img_4949Sunday was Derek's first day of Nursery.  We have been totally counting down to this day, but sadly he only lasted ten minutes.  I think it was because he was so tired, since he fell asleep on my shoulder about five minutes after they gave him to me.  Oh well, he looked handsome for it at least :).

Lily also had a first on Sunday – it was her first time paying tithing.  Since she had made that money the day before at her juice stand, we had her count out her pennies, Kevin helped her fill out the form, and then she took it to the bishop.  It was so great to watch!

Since I don't have a picture of the other stuff Lily did this weekend, I'll show you with a picture of her with the "beaver dam" she made in the hall, so that "nobody can get by."  She found every laundry hamper in the house, took out all the dirty clothes, plus a few assorted pillows and stuffed animals, and piled them up to create it.  That silly little girl!

Img_4952 And just for fun, since I rarely have pictures of myself, and since pictures of me with my glasses on are almost nonexistent, I'll share this picture with you.  I was trying to pound my chicken using a frying pan – like Rachel Ray does it – and Kevin thought it was so funny that he had to take a picture :).

I’m kind of jealous of your new ward! Sounds like fun. For about 2 years, they re-aligned our Ward boundaries every Stake Conference and it was so exciting to see what new people we were going to get!
And I love Lily’s lemonade stand adventure.

sounds like you have been busy. love the last picture of you, your mentioning your glasses makes me miss mine. I had lasic done just over 3 years ago & I use to switch between wearing glasses and contacts. maybe i could get some fake glasses just for fun!

Since we’re in Hawaii, I have to comment on the luau! What fun! Did they have a pig roasting and everything?!? What is it with kids and laundry baskets? Mine love to pretend it’s a boat. Pounding chicken with a frying pan….hmmm, might have to give it a shot!!

    So fun!
I love that you had Lily tithing. I guess I never think of those things as I don’t have kids yet. She will be blessed : )
That party looks like fun, and who can resist cold stone?
And can I just say that you look so PRETTY! Enjoy cooking : )

Oh, the juice stand sounds so fun — I bet she was so adorable.
And the beaver dam — that is TOTALLY something my boys would do!

That’s so cool that your new ward had a luau for everyone! What a great idea for a summer activity for everyone to get to know each other better. And I just loved picturing sweet Lily with her juice stand 🙂
