There is so much I have been meaning to post about, that I decided to lump it all together into another list of adventures, so here goes:
*Last Saturday we were all ready to go swimming, but when we got to our apartment pool, it was locked – the pump had broken that morning. This didn't stop Kevin, and since he is the best dad in the world, he loaded us all in the car and drove us to the pool on post. It was a blast! They had a big water-slide that they let us take the kids down with us, and Lily especially loved the kiddie pool :). Wish I had pictures!!
*On Monday I had my yearly eye exam, and realized as I was trying to drive home, that the dilating drops they had given me made everything blurry within 5 feet. This added to the fact that my sunglasses weren't helping much with the sunshine, and so I was squinting the whole way too. Not exactly safe, and so after I picked up the kids from the babysitter (Camen, their favorite 13 year old), I called Kevin at work, and he ended up driving us home.
* Derek had his first ice cream cone, and it was hilarious watching him eat it! He spent a lot of time staring at it, but managed to eat most of it without too much of a mess.

(On the bad list: having to leave the beautiful weather and relaxing on our deck to go inside once the people who live below us came out and started smoking. This happens way too often – we are playing on the deck, and find ourselves in a cloud of nasty smoke!!! Ahh!! Sorry, I had to vent.)
* Last week I discovered a bird's nest on our deck. I thought it was new and meant to get rid of it before there were any eggs in it, but I guess it had already been there a while, because not only had the bird already laid the eggs, but the babies had hatched!
Now I am really glad I didn't take it down, because it has been so much fun watching the birds feed their babies. And, thank goodness, they don't seem to mind us being out there with them, although they kept hiding from my camera. I got a few shots from through the window though. My favorite picture is of Lily watching the birds :).
* I had the chance to watch a few new movies this week, since it is summer and all my TV shows aren't on. I really liked all of them: The Lake House – surprisingly good :), The Queen – very interesting, and Dejavu – VERY EXCITING!! I would suggest you watch any of them :).
*On Friday we had Camen over with his friend, and I taught them how to make choclate chip cookies :). It was a lot of fun, and afterward we all went swimming. The kids loved having the two boys there, since they are a lot more exciting than I am :).
*Yesterday, aside from being Father's Day, was also our first Sunday in our new ward. It was really fun, and we are pretty excited. It feels like they just breathed new life into everything – although it will be a little chaotic until all the callings are filled. I hope I get a calling soon – it was too weird being free after being so busy before. I did go in and help in primary though, which was great.
*And last, but definitely not least, was Father's Day! The kids and I got up early – or rather, they got me up early – and we made Kevin his favorite Cinnamon Swirl Muffins (the Duncan Hines brand). Lily had to give daddy his surprises right away, since she couldn't hold the secrets in any longer :). She had made him a really cute card, and we gave him an book I had made – you should check it out, as I was very happy with the results :).
He also got some exercise stuff that he wanted, and Lily, without even knowing it, had picked out the perfect card to go with it. (It had a six pack of soda on it with a sign to tape it to your stomach – on the inside it said, "Dad, now you have that six-pack you've always wanted." I laughed so hard when she insisted on buying it. She thought the pop tops were money, and that was why she wanted to give it to him.)
Kevin also got to watch plenty of golf, since the US Open was on, and I made him fried chicken and mashed potatoes, with Eclair Cake for dessert. Yummy!! The other highlight of the day was when Lily sang "Daddy's Homecoming" at church, and then to both her grandpas. It was adorable!! Since I never got any pics of Kevin with the kids yesterday, instead I'll end with some cute pics of just the kids, because this post wasn't already long enough ;).
