Yesterday was a road trip adventure to South Carolina.  We were going to my cousin Wendy's wedding – she is the daughter of my mom's favorite cousin, Laurence.  Being the only family in the area to represent my mom, and being that I hadn't seen them in almost 20 years, I was pretty excited to go.

The only real downside was that the wedding was that it was about 4 hours away in the middle of nowhere – a very pretty middle of nowhere, but it did take a little bit to find it.  The kids were great though, and we had left with plenty of time to stop if we needed to.

We got to the wedding just in time, and it was very nice.  I spent most of the ceremony standing in the back, since Derek had had his fill of sitting still, but it was still nice.  The best part was getting to introduce my little family to my extended family.  My mom's cousins Cynthia and Scott were also there, and they were just as wonderful and friendly as I remember.  By the end, Lily had them all wrapped around her finger, and they were playing and dancing with her :).

Even though we had to drive through a tropical storm both ways, and it was a long day in the car, it was very much worth the effort.  We had a great time, and I know my mom will be very happy that we were able to go and represent her :).

those crazy tropical rain storms are something I don’t miss from when we lived in Florida, it was just plain scary to drive in. I remember our first one, we had lived in Florida for about a week and it was the end of huricane season… Sam and I were in shock at the serious buckets of rain coming down on us.

Sounds like it was fun wedding to attend, not so sure about the tropical storm part though! That sounds a little scary to me! I love storms, I just don’t think I would want to drive in one like that.
P.S. You got some good pictures of the bride and groom…as always 🙂

How delightful to be a part of your blog and have family pictures as well. It was wonderful to have you there and your pictures will be added to Wendy’s scrapbook! You were a blessing to be around! Love you, Cynthia
