Baseball games and playing with Uncle Randy – definitely the makings of a great weekend :).

ADVENTURE #1 – Savannah Sand Gnats Game

Saturday night was Military Appreciation night at the Sand Gnats baseball game.  (They are the minor league farm team for the Mets – which is Kevin's favorite team, pretty fun.)  We met our friends Andrew and Jeren there, and had such a great time eating hot dogs, cotton candy and drinking lemonade.  Lily really watched the game the whole time, and with amazing focus, considering that she is barely 4 years old – but Kevin has been training her for this her whole life ;).

Derek was another story all together.  He just wanted to be free, and so we took turns walking with him around the stadium (with his harness on, so he could NOT escape or get stolen), which kept him pretty happy, and also made him the subject of quite a few pictures #1, #2, #3.  (Lily was also caught on camera #4, because she is so cute, of course – he he!) 

As the game wore on, Derek became completely exhausted, and so Jeren and I took him for a walk in the stroller, hoping he would fall asleep so that we could stick around for the fireworks.  While we were wandering outside the stadium, we suddenly heard people yell, "Foul Ball!" – and it seemed strangely directed at us.  Just then, only five feet in front of us, a baseball landed and rolled past us!  I quickly scooped it up, and passed it off to Derek :).  We got the foul ball – how cool is that?!

The only real downside of the night was at the end of the game when they decided to cancel the fireworks.  The reason Lily sat patiently, the reason we stayed for the whole game, and part of the reason we came in the first place.  Oh well.  I think it had something to do with the fires in the area.  As we were leaving, they were handing out free samples of tea to everyone, and Lily said, "I don't want tea, I want fireworks!!"  It was pretty funny :).  It was a fun time, the weather was a perfect 79 degrees, and all in all, it was a great experience.

ADVENTURE #2 – Playing with Uncle Randy

Our second adventure started early Sunday morning, as we set off for Sumter, SC to see Kevin's brother Randy.  He has been playing in the wind symphony at BYU, and for the past month they have been touring down the East coast.  His last stop was only 2 hours away, and so we took advantage of the opportunity to go play with him. 

We met him at the church there in time for Sacrament meeting, and then we took him away for a picnic lunch at "Swan Lake" – this beautiful park in the town.  We had so much fun together – especially watching the kids play with their uncle.  Definitely not something they get to do everyday, and it was a blast.  By the end of the day, both of the kids were filthy from climbing trees, digging in the dirt, and running around.  It was so sad to see Randy go, but we felt very lucky to get to see him.

So you see, we have been crazy busy this weekend, but having a blast and loving every minute of it :).
