We had a wonderful Easter, and although it had a little chaos and some temper tantrums scattered amongst the fun, we got through it on a pretty positive note. (I had to wait until after church to get our Easter pictures, and this was all we could get – oh well. On the bad list, waiting until the kids are tired, hungry, and grumpy to take pictures.)
Saturday was our ward Easter Party, and it went very well. Learning our lesson from the terrible experience we had the week before, we had the egg hunt in the gym – NO FIRE ANTS. The kids went to the Primary room with a very wonderful and entertaining sister in our ward, and while they were gone, we had the adults and youth hide the eggs. Of course, Kevin being himself, would not rest until he had one of those eggs on the backboard of the basketball hoop. Ahh, that's my husband. But like I said, it went great!
Later that night, Kevin sent me off to the mall to buy an Easter dress. You see, I have lots of skirts, but I haven't bought a dress since 1998 when my sister got married (my wedding dress doesn't count). I was just going to settle with my normal clothes, but he insisted, and I am glad. One thing I learned for the future – never search for a dress the night before Easter! The mall was insane, in fact, it felt like Christmas Eve. There were even lines of kids lined up to get a picture with the Easter Bunny, or to ride the train they had set up for Easter. Craziness!!
Somehow, amidst the picked over clothes and crazy shoppers, I found something fun and cute – just what I was looking for :). The picture doesn't really do it justice, but maybe that is because it doesn't show how cute I feel in it :).
Sunday morning was a little crazy (see post below), and so we waited until after dinner to do our egg hunt. Some of you may be thinking that it was silly to have another one, since the kids had already done it twice, but you see, this one we actually got to have more fun with.
First, we had Lily help us "hide" Derek's eggs in the hallway. They all had either a tiny marshmallow rabbit or one M&M inside, which meant he could finally do what he had been wanting to do both the other times, he could open the egg and immediately eat the treat. He had so much fun and loved it so much, that he gets excited every time he sees an empty egg in the house.
Lily was next, and I must say, she is SO entertaining when she finds an egg! Lily's eggs had more in them than Derek's. (Actually, they sort of go along with a theme from the treats Owen received in the book, Owen's Marshmallow Chick.) I realized later that I forgot to take any pictures of Lily finding her eggs, because I spent the whole time videoing her. Maybe I'll have to post the video eventually :).
And we mustn't forget Kevin . . . he had a great weekend, because not only was it Master's weekend, but he had 2 Mets games and a Laker's game to watch :). Golf, baseball, and basketball – nothing could make him happier :). Hey, and he even taught Derek how to say "Go Mets!" – he he! I'll leave you with a picture of how he and the kids spent the time when I was dress shopping :).
