Sometimes I get a little out of control.  I come up with an idea, and then I have to deal with all the work it gives me, and it is nobody's fault but my own :).  So, that is what happened Easter morning (and the night before).  I wanted to do something nice for all the Primary teachers and Primary workers, and came up with a cute little note, "You are on a 'roll'!  Thanks for all your help with the children in our ward."  Well, I thought the only roll that would really be fun to give them was a cinnamon roll.  (Why on earth I didn't think of a Tootsie Roll is beyond me.)Img_3924

I was also teaching sharing time about the resurrection of Christ, and thought of a fun note to give to the kids – along with a cinnamon roll, of course.  So now I had to make about 45 of them and wrap them up nicely – and since they are better fresh, I woke up bright and early to get it done.  In the midst of the chaos, I kept reminding myself that I had CHOSEN to do this – he he!

After all was said and done, they turned out fine, the teachers and kids loved them, and my children have really been enjoying the leftovers.  Next time though, I think I'll go with something much simpler.

Cinnamon Rolls

Microwave until melted and warm . . .

1 cube butter/marg

½ c water

2 cups milk

Mix together in a separate bowl . . .

4 cups flour

1 T salt

2 T yeast

¼ c sugar

Dump in milk mixture and mix until runny.  Let sit 15 minutes.  Add 3 more cups of flour.  Divide dough in half.  Roll out.  Cover with margarine and cinnamon-sugar.  Roll and using floss, divide into 12 equal rolls.  Do the same with the remaining dough.  Place rolls on a greased pan.  There should be 24.  Let rise until the rolls fill the entire pan.  Bake at 350 for 17 minutes.

Cream Cheese Frosting J

Beat together:

8 oz softened cream cheese

½ c softened butter/marg

1 t vanilla

3 cups powdered sugar

1 T milk

Frost when rolls are warm or cool – depending on how gooey you want them to be.

Thanks for the recipe, going to try it. It’s funny the things we do for our callings- I made 40 mini loafs of bread for last Sunday’s GD lesson.

What commentment. We only gave our teachers an egg of candy. I am not a baker. I think it is a great idea though, and I LOVE cinnomon rolls so maybe I can talk David into making them for me (he loves to bake)!!!

    . . . . Simplify . . . .
I’ve got that written on my wall. It’s a good reminder to not overwork & overstress myself.
The cinnamon rolls sounds delicious, and I’m sure all the kids & teachers loved them.

Well, all your hard work was MUCH appreciated. Scott and I loved our cinnamon rolls and left church feeling very happy to have them. Thanks for posting the recipe, because I was going to ask you for it anyway – they were delicious! I’m glad you dindn’t think of Tootsie Roll until it was too late.

Wow Lisa. I wish I was working in your Primary! I also wish I had your creativity – I’ve been called to serve as Enrichment Counselor in the RS. Can we say “AHHHH!!!”???

You are much nicer than I am. We did nothing for Easter and I only did stuff for Christmas out of guilt. Stuffing 90 bags with chocolate and oranges was enough for me to not want to do it again until next year.

You are ambitious! Although I do love your note you put with it. And who wouldn’t be thrilled to get homemade cinnamon rolls?!
