Do you ever just sit back and have to laugh at the craziness that is your life?  I have to do this often, especially this week.  Life is so random, what else can you do but laugh?  Right now I am still chuckling to myself  because of what Kevin just called and told me . . . Img_3599

He broke his little toe.  Yes, my husband who made it through insane amounts of accidents as a child without once breaking a bone, broke his toe on our dining room table.  How can you not laugh?  (Just so you know I gave him lots of love and sympathy last night after it happened, so I am not completely uncaring – he he!)

Img_3607 And then there are the cute x-rays I now have in my possession of Derek's skull.  (Can X-rays be cute?)  We went to the doctor on Thursday, and just as I expected, he was brusk, rude, and tried to totally blow me off – How could I know what was going on with my child??  Really?  I had been there, done that with Lily for over 2 years before I forced a doctor to listen to me, and so this time I was not leaving without the referral.  He begrudgingly gave it to me, but also had me get some x-rays of his neck area to take to the ENT.  That was the best part.  They are so cool!  Especially because you can see all the teeth he has hidden under his gums.

Img_3601 Lily is constantly making me giggle, chuckle, and just plain laugh out loud.  The other night she was having a hard time settling down – I think it's the time change – and so I went in and lay down with her and we talked for a little while.  She said the funniest things:

"Mom, when I get old like you, on my birthday in May, I want to get the same presents that you got for your birthday.  Except I want my presents to be toy presents off of my birthday wish list.   And I also have an animal wish list too."

A little nervous as to where this was leading, I asked her what was on her animal wish list, to which she responded,

"A dog.  And we can train him to go potty on the toilet, just like me."

When I told her that a dog was not in the cards, she changed her tune a little:

"Then maybe we can get a cat.  We could borrow Tat from Cindy, and then we will have our very own kitty."

It was a pretty cute thought, but also not in the cards.  That is one place Kevin and I will stand firm on – no animals.  She gets to enjoy other people's pets instead :).

Img_3604Another thing about Lily that floors me at times, is how gorgeous she is.  I know, I am totally going to be struck down for my pride, but I think my daughter is so very beautiful.  People stop us everywhere we go, just because Lily will flash them a smile.  I am also way too prideful about her gorgeous long hair, but just look at that ponytail.  I guess we all have our faults :).

And the last thing that is making me smile today, is that I have all the squares of Lily's quilt sewn together :)!!  It is very exciting, because now I just have to do the border and then the top of the quilt is finished!  Yea!  On the other hand, I have no idea what to do next- I need another sewing lesson in Idaho with Valerie.  You see, I have never made anything even close to this large, and am at a loss.  I guess once I get the border on, it will have to wait until July.  But look how pretty it is so far :).

Also on the good list today are:

  • listening to my old Johny Mathis CD, Heavenly.  It is my mom's favorite and has magical soothing powers for me.
  • Getting interupted by the UPS man bringing my new Old Navy shorts :).

I hope all of you have a great day today, and remember all those silly things that make you smile as well :).

I’m so proud of you! The quilt top looks great. Are you wanting to quilt it yourself or use my great quilter? I love your success.

So sorry about the broken toe! I hope that seeing the specialist for Derek will bring you more peace of mind, and a doctor that will actually listen to you!
If it makes you feel better, I’m a totally prideful mom too, and am still waiting to be struck down myself 🙂
That quilt is gorgeous Lisa! I wish I knew how to do that. My friend Bonnie is always saying that she will teach me but it just looks so hard to me! But I might need to take her up on her offer and make myself a quilt. She has a really nice quilting machine. You have inspired me!

Ah-ha! I finally figured out who Lily reminds me of… do you remember those little golden books? The ones with the very pretty illustrations of the beautiful kids? Lily reminds me of them. I used to love to look at those, so sad they are not made anymore. Great books. She has the best hair color, she will be an amazingly pretty woman!
And OUCH regarding the toe. Sending prayers…

Rob says that his broken toe can’t hurt much worse than when he dropped your bed on his toe 🙂 We do hope it heals quickly though! Oh and I think Derek’s x-rays are cute and Lily is gorgeous too!

X-rays are cool, but to see x-rays of a baby’s head — not the coolest for me!
Great job on the quilt — it looks wonderful!

I have broken a few fingers, but never a toe. that is amazing. We have the xrays of Maddie’s broken arm (when she was one) and it always amazes me how they work. I think a head shot would be awsome.
One more thing to finish your quilt, which looks great by the way, you need a border or two usually in one of the fabrics from your quilt. then quilt together the 3 layers.
    Good LUCK
