Today was my 29th birthday. It's funny, because although 29 is still quite young, in some ways I feel so old. It think it is because so much has happened in those 29 years – I have been so many places, made so many wonderful memories, it is hard to believe it all fits into this amount of time. but enough about that . . .
Today was wonderful, however, for some reason it didn't start out that way (Maybe something to do with Derek waking up at 4am and not getting back to sleep until 5ish, just in time for Lily to wake up. Maybe next year for my birthday I will get a good nights sleep – he he!). For some reason I was feeling especially lonely and sad – the kind of sad where you feel like you may cry at the drop of a hat for no reason whatsoever. That is where my family and friends stepped in to make the sadness disappear :).
The day was packed full of people taking the time to remember me, and it meant more than I can say. I had lunch with a great friend who I had really been missing, I got to talk to my mom in Scotland and 5 out of 7 of my sisters and brothers, was remembered by good friends, my amazing in-laws, and so much more. Another special thing, was a song that my best friend Pamela sent to me. She has known me forever, but I don't know if she knew the silly sentimental attachment I have to this song from the Simpsons :). Download Simpsons_-_Bart_And_Michael_Jackson-Happy_Birthday_Lisa.mp3
But best of all, I was so happy to go out to dinner with my little family, have fun feeding Derek lemons and french fries, sharing some yummy desserts with Kevin, and watching Lily eat up every bit of her ice-cream :). And I was very spoiled – my amazing husband got me a Cannon Speedlite 430EX to go with my camera (aka:a fancy flash). Even more spoiled, I got to end the day with a bubble bath while all the rest of my little family were fast asleep :).
All in all, it was a fantastic day! I feel very content and blessed :), and maybe a little lucky to have it so good.
