One of my goals is to make more time for things that I love – like reading, sewing, photography, etc. The craziest thing is, for the first time in a long time, I finally FEEL like doing projects again. Here are a few that I finished up last year.
The first one is a quilt I made for my sister Wendy for Christmas. You'll have to click on it to see the details. I loved doing it, but I got a little out of control.
The pattern was originally to make pillows, but I decided to make individual wall hangings instead. Somewhere in the middle of that, I decided to put it together into this quilt. (A lesson I learned from this project: Having a deadline takes away a lot of the fun.) I was very happy with how it turned out :).
I have a few new and fun sewing projects – a few, so that I can mix things up and not get bored. I also have NO DEADLINE for any of them :).
Another project I played around with last year was getting my hall bathroom decorated. I knew I wanted a beach theme, and so I searched for a fun shower curtain (the background). I also whitewashed this shelf and put some of my fun little beach trinkets on it. I have a few other pictures on the walls, but these were the actual projects I did.
My latest project has been to start scrapbooking again. I hadn't really scrapbooked in 2 years, between moving twice, having a baby, and keeping up with my calling, I didn't have the time or creativity. Now I am at it again, and although I am 3 years behind now, it's all good :).
Now, you must know that I am not some master scrapbooker. I am not nearly as amazing as most of you are, so please don't judge too harshly :). I like things pretty simple, and I almost always do all the lettering by hand.
These are two of my most recent and favorite pages. the first is of us dancing at my brother's wedding.
Kevin had been at Basic training for three months, but was home for a week at Christmas. He was going back in a few days, which is why we were especially emotional, and why it means so much to me.
The other was Lily's first snow experience :). Pretty funny, since she hasn't been in snow for 3 years now, and so she has no memory of it. I love her Old Navy hat that was too big for her :).
So, those are a few of my most recent projects. I'll have to let you know how my other things turn out. It is always an adventure, that is for sure.
PS. A question for all you scrappers out there, how do you attach vellum without the adhesive showing? Thanks!
